  • Patent number: 9912949
Abstract: Provided is a method extracts a merge index from a bit stream, constructs a merge candidate list using available spatial and temporal merge candidates, selects a merge predictor among merge candidates using the merge index, and sets motion information of the merge predictor as motion information of the current prediction unit. The temporal merge candidate includes a reference picture index and a motion vector, and a motion vector of a temporal merge candidate block of a temporal merge candidate picture is set as the motion vector of the temporal merge candidate. Accordingly, the coding efficiency of the motion information is improved by including various merge candidates. Also, the computational complexity of an encoder and a decoder is reduced maintaining improvement of coding efficiency by adaptively storing motion information of reference picture and adaptively generating a temporal merge candidate.

  • Patent number: 9891584
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for coherent diffractive imaging with arbitrary angle of illumination incidence utilize a method of fast remapping of a detected diffraction intensity pattern from a detector pixel array (initial grid) to a uniform spatial frequency grid (final grid) chosen to allow for FFT on the remapped pattern. This is accomplished by remapping the initial grid to an intermediate grid chosen to result in a final grid that is linear in spatial frequency. The initial grid is remapped (generally by interpolation) to the intermediate grid that is calculated to correspond to the final grid. In general, the initial grid (x,y) is uniform in space, the intermediate grid ({tilde over (x)},{tilde over (y)}) is non-uniform in spatial frequency, and the final grid ({tilde over (f)}x,{tilde over (f)}y) is uniform in spatial frequency.

  • Patent number: 9894388
Abstract: The present invention discloses an inter-frame predictive coding method and a coder. Inter-frame predictive coding is sequentially performed on frames in multiple groups of pictures by using a group of pictures as a unit; a correlation between the reference B frame and a GPB frame in the same group of pictures is used; and when the maximum depth of the CTU in the same position in the GPB frame is smaller, a quantity of mode decisions performed on the CTU in the reference B frame may be relatively small, so that an objective of reducing complexity of an inter-frame predictive coding process of the reference B frame is achieved.

  • Patent number: 9888256
Abstract: Methods and apparatus that allow encoding of video data in pipelined encoder architectures with reduced encoding performance penalty. The methods and apparatus encode video data without the need to flush the data pipeline and re-encode macroblocks, thus saving time and resulting in an increase in the encoder's throughput. In one embodiment, macroblocks are encoded in a data pipeline to form a first video slice of a plurality of video slices. Once a macroblock overshoot condition occurs, the overshooting macroblock is determined and a second video slice is formed that includes at least one of the overshooting macroblock and the encoded macroblocks without re-encoding the included overshooting macroblock and encoded macroblocks. For example, a second video slice may be formed from the overshooting macroblock, and any remaining encoded macroblocks, that do not form the first video slice.

  • Patent number: 9854164
Abstract: An image capture device includes two fixed position ultra-wide angle lenses, one or more components to optically direct light, and a single image sensor. The two fixed position ultra-wide angle lenses face substantially opposing directions. A field of view of each of the lenses is greater than one hundred and eighty degrees. Facing the lenses in substantially opposing directions results in an overlapping region of image capture of substantially a three hundred and sixty degree horizontal field of view and a two hundred and seventy degree (or more) vertical field of view. The one or more components optically direct light so that optically directed light from both of the two fixed position ultra-wide angle lenses strikes a single surface of a single image sensor. The single image sensor converts an optical signal into an electronic signal.
