  • Patent number: 9898740
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention enable cardholders conducting an online transaction to be authenticated in real-time using a challenge-response application. The challenge-response application can be administered by an issuer or by a third party on-behalf-of an issuer. A challenge question can be presented to the cardholder, and the cardholder's response can be verified. The challenge question presented can be selected based on an analysis of the risk of the transaction and potentially other factors. A variety of dynamic challenge questions can be used without the need for the cardholder to enroll into the program. Additionally, there are many flexible implementation options of the challenge-response application that can be adjusted based on factors such as the location of the merchant or the location of the consumer.

  • Patent number: 9830580
Abstract: A system including a network connected to at least one mint computing device implementing a virtual currency mint. The network has a ring topology and includes computing devices that implement a plurality of nodes. The mint issues units of virtual currency to user accounts implemented by the nodes. Each of at least a portion of the nodes is configured to initiate (as a sender node) a transaction with a recipient node that transfers at least one unit of the virtual currency from a sender one of the user accounts to a recipient one of the user accounts. The recipient node validates the transaction, creates a receipt, performs an operation on the receipt to identify a storage node, and routes the receipt to the storage node. The storage node stores the receipt, identifies next storage nodes, and routes copies of the receipt to the next storage nodes for storage thereby.

  • Patent number: 9342824
Abstract: The present invention provides a seamless entry system that comprises a universal session manager. Users connect to the host service provider with a unique username and password. Then, through a series of data exchanges between the universal session manager, a validation database, and the remote service module, the customer may be transparently logged into remote service providers. Internet banking customers utilize a browser system to connect to a host server providing a range of banking services supported by a remote or distinct server. According to the method, the customer first enters a username and password to gain access to the host service provider. The universal session manager transmits data required for login to the remote service provider. The user is thus able to utilize the remote services with his/her web browser system without having entered a username or password particular to the remote service.

  • Patent number: 9076171
Abstract: A graphical payment identifier is used to facilitate the automatic processing of an electronic payment. A graphical identifier payment system receives a request from a payment processing entity for a onetime use graphical payment identifier. In response, a onetime use graphical payment identifier to be displayed by the payment processing entity is generated. A request for user payment information by the payment processing entity is encoded in the graphical payment identifier, which is transmitted to the payment processing entity for display. The graphical payment identifier being displayed by the payment processing entity is captured by a registered user operated computing device. In response, the requested user payment information is transmitted to the payment processing entity, such that the electronic payment is executed automatically, without the user manually entering the requested payment information or providing a credit card.
