Abstract: A monolithic tissue screw fabricated of a single, unitary piece of material. The monolithic tissue screw has a helical coil portion and screw head portion with a driver aperture passing axially through the screw head portion and a co-axial with the helical coil portion such that a rotational torsional force applied by a mating driver to the driver aperture causes the helical coil portion to rotate about its axis. The helical coil portion engages tissue and draws the helical coil and the screw head portion into the tissue substantially only with the application of the rotational torsional force and substantially without an axial force applied to the tissue screw.

  • Patent number: 11806060
Abstract: The bone screw with internal extendable is a bone screw with an internal, extendable tang. The tang—part of a tang system—is concealed within the body of the screw until after placement. After the screw is threaded into the bone, the internal tang system is pushed out of the bone screw body, forcing one or more tangs to extend out of the body and into the bone. A driver allows the user to control the different steps of insertion, including converting rotational motion of a knob into linear motion of a rod, the rod moving through the screw body to force the tang to exit the bone screw body. The one or more tangs preferably exit the bone screw body at a tang exit portal formed by one or more tang exit guide surfaces.

  • Patent number: 11707360
Abstract: An intervertebral prosthesis for insertion between adjacent vertebrae includes upper and lower prosthesis plates locatable against respective vertebrae and having opposing concavely curved recesses therein, and a core located between the plates. The core has opposed, convexly curved surfaces received in the recesses of the plates to allow the plates to slide in articulated manner over the core. The opposed surfaces of the core and the recesses of the plates have cooperating spherical curvatures. The recess of each plate surrounds a locating peg projecting centrally from the base of the recess and is bounded by an annular rim, such that the annular rims of the plates are arranged to contact one another at a predetermined limit of sliding movement of the plates over the core. The peg locates loosely in an opening located centrally in a curved surface of the core, whereby the plates can slide over the core in all directions while the peg holds the core captive.
