  • Patent number: 9451424
Abstract: Automatically retrieving messages by a wireless telephone based on user preferences. A method of the invention receives a notification, on a wireless device, indicating that a computing device has a message for a user. One or more rules associated with the user are evaluated based on the received notification. The method also automatically requests the message from the computing device as a function of the evaluated rules and received from the computing device. The method further stores the received message in a memory area of the wireless telephone for rendering to the user. Alternatively, one or more rules associated with the user are dynamically generated by monitoring the user interaction with the wireless telephone.

  • Patent number: 9436306
Abstract: The present invention is to enable a portable telephone capable of switching to a power conservation state so as to reduce power consumption by limiting the supply of power, in which the limit on the supply of power can be partially removed immediately before the portable telephone is used, without the necessity of cancelling the power conservation mode through a mechanical button operation to restore the normal power state. In the case while the supply of power to a predetermined peripheral device (touch panel) is being limited by a power conservation mode, an acceleration sensor detects vibrations applied to the portable telephone as a first state and a brightness sensor detects the ambient brightness of the portable telephone as a second state, a CPU removes the limit on the supply of power to the predetermined peripheral device on the basis of the first state and the second state.

  • Patent number: 9432439
Abstract: In accordance with the invention, mobile phones and other electronic devices access content through links, rather than storing the content on the mobile phone or at a location under the control of a mobile phone operator. A user retrieves the content by accessing a link on the mobile phone, which results in transferring the content from a content-provider location directly to the mobile phone. In this way, the mobile phone operator does not have to reserve storage for the content, and the content provider, alerted that the user is restoring or otherwise requesting content, is able to offer the user upgrades, replacement content, and related content. To better offer a user relevant content, a history of purchases for the mobile phone, the user, or both is maintained.

  • Patent number: 9426656
Abstract: An on-vehicle device is configured to be able to communicate with a mobile device, and includes a reception unit, an interruption detection unit, a determination unit, and a display control unit. The reception unit receives image information transmitted from a particular mobile device which is a mobile device with which communication is established. The interruption detection unit detects that reception of the image information is interrupted. The determination unit determines whether or not the transmission device which transmits the image information is the particular mobile device, when the reception unit receives image information again after interruption of the reception is detected. The display control unit stops displaying the image information transmitted from the transmission device on a display device when the transmission device is determined not to be the particular mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9414229
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate cell search, selection, and reselection within a wireless communication network that includes a home node base station (home nodeB). A user equipment (UE) can detect a home nodeB and communicate such identification to a macro network that includes at least one node base station (nodeB). The detected home nodeB and nodeB can be hierarchically structured in order to prioritize connectivity with the home nodeB over the nodeB. Such prioritization can be implemented by broadcasting home nodeB parameters and macro nodeB parameters having identification information therewith.

  • Patent number: 9414269
Abstract: Systems and methods for transmission of measurement reports are provided. In some cases, once a mobile station transmits a measurement report for a cell, such as an uncontrolled cell, then the mobile station transmits some further minimum number of measurement reports. In some cases, a mobile station can only transmit measurement reports for a cell up to some maximum or for some specified time. The mobile station transmits measurement reports using two formats. In the first, the cell is identified using routing parameters; in the second, the cell is not identified using routing parameters. The network is able to associate messages sent using the two formats.

  • Patent number: 9408115
Abstract: A master monitor/control (“M/C”) unit selects a base station controller (“BSC”) to serve a mobile radio base station (“RBS”). In one embodiment, the master M/C unit is configured to monitor and assess performance parameters of a communications link between the mobile RBS and a serving BSC and alternative communications links between the mobile RBS and a plurality of other BSCs. The master M/C unit is also configured to determine if the performance parameter of an alternative communications link between the mobile RBS and one of the plurality of other BSCs is better than the performance parameter of the communications link between the mobile RBS and the serving BSC, and select the one of the plurality of other BSCs as an alternative BSC accordingly. The master M/C unit is also configured to provide a new configuration for the mobile RBS and the alternative BSC to enable the alternative communications link therebetween.

  • Patent number: 9402158
Abstract: An Aggregate Location Dynometer (ALD) in a physical wireless network alerts to a problematic crowd risk using location based services (LBS). An Aggregate Location Dynometer (ALD) comprises a Network Monitor, a Crowd Risk Determinant and an Alert Module. The Network Monitor monitors wireless traffic for a potential viral event, associated with a formation of a plurality of wireless devices. The Crowd Risk Determinant requests location information associated with a plurality of wireless devices in a given area regarding a respective viral event. The Crowd Risk Determinant determines if the viral event also indicates a crowd safety risk, based on the shape and movement of observed wireless devices. The Alert Module triggers an alert of an impending crowd problem when crowd risk is above a given threshold. Historical databases are empirically determined and maintained in the Aggregate Location Dynometer (ALD) for use in viral event and crowd risk assessment.
