  • Patent number: 9872219
Abstract: Methods and access devices for collecting data from sensors of a wireless sensor network include transmitting a broadcast signal by a master device which currently collects the data and detected by other access devices. Handover of data collection control from the current master access device to an alternate access device is initiated based on a result of the detection. A handover request signal is received at the master device and a handover reply is signaled to a source device of the handover request signal. The handover reply indicates the time at which data collection is handed over from the current master access device to the source device. Thereby, the master device can be changed in a flexible manner based on current environmental conditions.

  • Patent number: 9854441
Abstract: An acquiring unit acquires the positional information. A first request unit requests an authentication station to perform authentication by using the positional information acquired by the acquiring unit. When the authentication station grants authentication for a request from the first request unit, a communication processing unit carries out communications using a first radio communication system. When authentication required for carrying out the communications using the first radio communication system is not performed in the communication processing unit, a second request unit requests another terminal apparatus to perform authentication by using a second radio communication system, whose transmission distance is shorter than the first radio communication system.

  • Patent number: 9820094
Abstract: In one embodiment, a social-networking system may receive, from a client system of a first user of an online social network, an indication that the first user is traveling to a first geographic location, and identify one or more second geographic locations within a threshold distance from the first geographic location. The second geographic locations may be determined based on a travel-recommendation model. The travel-recommendation model may include aggregated user information from the online social network associated with the first user and aggregated travel information from the online social network associated with one or more second users of the online social network who have traveled to the first geographic location. The social-networking system may generate travel recommendations based on the identified second geographic locations, and then send, to the client system of the first user, one or more of the travel recommendations for display to the first user.

  • Patent number: 9813854
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for obtaining ad-hoc the spatial layout and setup of installed radio-based indoor tracking systems at particular locations. The systems and methods can be implemented via an installed or web-based application that performs the ad-hoc detection of indoor beacons, which includes detecting the signal strength of all beacons at a location while the user performs a previously configured gesture. From the trajectory of the gesture and the recorded signal strengths, the disclosed systems and methods derive the distance and direction of all beacons, which are laid out in a 2D map. Thus, the present disclosure can implicitly calibrate signal strengths to high-accuracy distances, thereby producing the spatially accurate 2D setup of the previously unknown space, in addition to indoor tracking on a decimeter level, which is efficient and increasingly cost effective for device tracking and advertising purposes.
