Abstract: Method for transforming a discontinuous, faulted subsurface reservoir into a continuous, fault-free space where a complete geological model based on selected geological concepts can be built and updated efficiently. Faults are removed in reverse chronological order (62) to generate a pseudo-physical continuous layered model, which is populated with information according to the selected geological concept (68). The fault removal is posed as an optimal control problem where unknown rigid body transformations and relative displacements on fault surfaces are found such that deformation of the bounding horizons and within the volume near the fault surface are minimized (63). A boundary-element-method discretization in an infinite domain is used, with boundary data imposed only on fault surfaces. The data populated model may then be mapped back to the original faulted domain such that a one-to-one mapping between continuous and faulted spaces may be found to a desired tolerance (72).
Abstract: Disclosed are a system and a method for integrated circuit (IC) performance modeling, wherein a design layout of an IC is analyzed to identify a first conductive shape (e.g., an internal local interconnect or contact bar shape) on a diffusion boundary shape of a semiconductor device and to also identify the first conductive shape's connectivity to any second conductive shapes (e.g., a via, via bar, or external local interconnect shapes) inside and/or outside the limits of the diffusion boundary shape. A condensed resistance model for the first conductive shape is selected from a model library based on the previously identified connectivity. The selected condensed resistance model will have a lesser number of nodes and/or resistive elements than a full resistance model for the conductive shape. The selected condensed resistance model is used to construct a condensed netlist, which is used in a combined netlist to simulate IC performance.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for scoring an example with causal information includes a computer system receiving an indication of a goal and applying a predictive model to the example to yield an output score with respect to the goal. The computer system produces causal score for each feature-value pair in the example, each causal score indicating of a relative extent to which the feature-value pair is responsible for influencing the output score. Then, the computer system presents the output score and the causal score for each feature-value pair in the example.

Abstract: In some aspects, techniques and systems for modeling fluid flow are described. Pressure gradient values for respective nodes of a one-dimensional flow model are computed. The nodes represent locations of fluid flow along a flow path, and the pressure gradient values are computed based on an approximation of the flow velocity at a point on the flow path. A pressure drop between two opposite ends of the flow path is calculated based on the pressure gradient values. An improved approximation of the flow velocity for the point on the flow path is calculated based on a difference between the calculated pressure drop and a pressure drop boundary condition.

Abstract: An approach is provided for predicting system performance. The approach predicts system performance by identifying a Queuing Network Model (QNM) corresponding to a clustered system that handles a plurality of service demands using a plurality of parallel server nodes that process a workload for a quantity of users. A workload description is received that includes server demand data. Performance of the clustered system is predicted by transforming the QNM to a linear model by serializing the parallel services as sequential services, identifying transaction groups corresponding to each of the server nodes, and distributing the workload among the transaction groups across the plurality of nodes. The approach further solves analytically the linear model with the result being a predicted resource utilization (RU) and a predicted response time (RT).

Abstract: Systems and methods for, inter alia, geographically based analyses of traffic being carried over a wide scale traffic network. The systems integrate geographical information systems (GIS) with traffic simulation processes to allow a user to analyze traffic patterns and loads at specific geographic locations of regions. Additionally, these systems allow for traffic analysis over a wide scale traffic network that may encompass the traffic network that exists within an geographic region and can include, as examples, the traffic networks that span across a city, that interconnect cities, that interconnect states and that run across multiple states. To this end, the systems include traffic simulators that can adaptively or controllably select between multiple traffic simulation models for simulating traffic across different segments of the traffic network. The different models provide varying levels of granularity for measurements of geographical location of a vehicle traveling over the traffic network.

Abstract: In a STA method, after accessing data sets regarding the IC, vectors of the data sets for STA can be generated. Each vector can include a base value and a plurality of tokens, wherein each token is quantized. For each vector, the data of the vector can be adjusted. Adjusting can include shifting a predetermined token to zero and adjusting the base value and remaining token values based on the shifting. Incremental compression can be applied within the vector by storing each token value as a difference versus its previous token value. Differential compression can then be applied by storing each token value as a difference versus a corresponding token value in a predetermined reference vector. A resulting vector can be stored. At this point, an operation for STA can be performed using multiple resulting vectors without de-quantizing or decompressing.
