  • Patent number: 9529939
Abstract: Techniques are described for decomposing three-dimensional (3D) geometry into an assemblable collection of two-dimensional (2D) panels. Importantly, the 3D geometry is automatically encoded into the 2D panels, allowing the 3D geometry to be recreated simply by joining the 2D panels at the appropriate seams and creating the appropriate bends/folds in each panel. Further, each panel has edges, vertices, and faces which can be encoded in the panelization, allowing assembly instructions to be algorithmically generated, Doing so allows users to be provided with a step-by-step instructions carried out to realize the 3D geometry encoded in the 2D panels.

  • Patent number: 9514022
Abstract: A system and method for creating an accurate black-box model of a live storage system and for predicting performance of the storage system under a given workload is disclosed. An analytics engine determines a subset of counters that are relevant to performance of the storage system with respect to a particular output (e.g., throughput or latency) from performance data in counters of the storage system. Using the subset of counters, the analytics engine creates a workload signature for the storage system by using a recursive partitioning technique, such as a classification and regression tree. The analytics engine then creates the black-box model of the storage system performance by applying uncertainty measurement techniques, such as a Gaussian process, to the workload signature.

  • Patent number: 9514258
Abstract: A memory structural model is generated directly from memory configuration information and memory layout information in an efficient manner. Information on strap distribution is generated by analyzing configuration information of the memory and the corresponding memory layout. Information on scrambling of addresses in the memory layout is generated by programming the memory layout with physical bit patterns, extracting corresponding logical bit patterns and then analyzing the discrepancy between the physical bit patterns and the logical bit patterns. The strap distribution information and the address scrambling information are combined into the memory structural model used for designing an efficient test and repair engine.

  • Patent number: 9505072
Abstract: An audit system and method audits operation of an optimizer system in a mill, for example auditing operation of a cant optimizer which optimizes sawing patterns. The audit system may be completely independent of the optimizer. For example, the audit system may acquire information (e.g., optically) indicative of a geometry of boards downstream from a piece of equipment such as a gangsaw. The audit system may computationally reconstruct a cant from which the boards were sawn, determine an outside dimension indicative of wane, and simulate alternative sawing patterns, determining a theoretical amount of recovery that would have resulted from each and comparing such to actual recovery from the log or cant. Alternative sawing patterns may take into account various wane rules and comparison may take into account current demand and/or prices for dimensional lumber.

  • Patent number: 9507892
Abstract: An N×N matrix is generated from computerized model representing a physical domain, comprises coefficients of N simultaneous linear equations with N unknown physical quantities associated with N degrees-of-freedom of the physical domain, and is represented by an undirected graph having N vertices connected by a plurality of edges. A best suitable partition scheme for dividing the N vertices into a separator group and, first and second mutually independent groups as follows: distance vectors of source vertices selected from the N vertices are calculated; for each distinct pair of the source vertices, the difference of respective distance vectors is used for finding a coarse graph whose adjacency coarse matrix is pentadiagonal; a trial partition scheme is determined using the coarse graph initially; the separator group is then iteratively improved by trimming vertices contained therein and merging them into one of the mutually independent groups until the separator group becomes minimal.

  • Patent number: 9495487
Abstract: Method for reducing the time needed to perform geophysical inversion by using simultaneous encoded sources in the simulation steps of the inversion process. The geophysical survey data are prepared by encoding (3) a group of source gathers (1), using for each gather a different encoding signature selected from a set (2) of non-equivalent encoding signatures. Then, the encoded gathers are summed (4) by summing all traces corresponding to the same receiver from each gather, resulting in a simultaneous encoded gather. (Alternatively, the geophysical data are acquired from simultaneously encoded sources.) The simulation steps needed for inversion are then calculated using a particular assumed velocity (or other physical property) model (5) and simultaneously activated encoded sources using the same encoding scheme used on the measured data. The result is an updated physical properties model (6) that may be further updated (7) by additional iterations.

  • Patent number: 9488047
Abstract: A method is described for producing an amended realization of a geostatistical model of a hydrocarbon reservoir using the Karhunen-Loève (KL) expansion. The KL expansion may be used to produce amended realizations for history matching and is widely used. However, it is necessary in order to use the KL expansion to perform singular value decomposition of the covariance matrix of the model to provide eigenvectors and eigen values for use in the expansion. In a typical geostatistical model, the covariance matrix is too large for singular value decomposition to be performed. Prior solutions to this problem involved reducing the resolution of the model so as to reduce the size of the covariance matrix. In the method described, a plurality of random realizations are generated and an approximation of the covariance matrix is constructed from the realizations, the approximation matrix having smaller dimensions than the true covariance matrix.

  • Patent number: 9484186
Abstract: Processes and apparatuses are described for modeling and correcting electron-beam (e-beam) proximity effects during e-beam lithography. An uncalibrated e-beam model, which includes a long-range component and a short-range component, can be calibrated based on one or more test layouts. During correction, a first resist intensity map can be computed based on the long-range component of the calibrated e-beam model and a mask layout. Next, a target pattern in the mask layout can be corrected by, iteratively: (1) computing a second resist intensity map based on the short-range component of the calibrated e-beam model and the target pattern; (2) obtaining a combined resist intensity map by combining the first resist intensity map and the second resist intensity map; and (3) adjusting the target pattern based on the combined resist intensity map and the design intent.
