  • Patent number: 9727669
Abstract: In a computer system, a pedestrian dataset that indicates position fixes for several portable devices is received, such that each portable device corresponds to a respective pedestrian. Raw heat scores for several geographic units of equal size are generated based on the pedestrian dataset, each raw heat score being indicative of a number of position fixes in the corresponding geographic unit. A selection of a geographic area that contains some of the geographic units is received, and normalized heat scores for these geographic units are generated based on at least some of the generated raw heat scores.

  • Patent number: 9697020
Abstract: The automatic generation of a real-time scheduler for scheduling the execution of tasks on a real-time system is disclosed. The scheduler may allow task overruns in the execution of the tasks on the real-time system. The task overruns may occur when the execution of a task for a current sample hit is not completed before a next sample hit. When the task overruns occur, the scheduler may delay the execution of the task for the next sample hit until the execution of the task for the current sample hit is completed. The execution of the task for the next sample hit is performed after the execution of the task for the current sample hit is completed.

  • Patent number: 9689245
Abstract: The feasibility of performing hydraulic fracturing can be assessed by analyzing the effect of skin on the overall deliverability of a reservoir. Aspects of the disclosure provide a method to determine equivalent skin in hydraulic fractured system through a semi analytical correlation obtained by numerical modeling. Two 3D models are considered: a base case without fracture and a complex case with fractures. The base case is simulated by varying matrix permeabilities while the fractured model is run with different sets of varying fracture's lengths, widths, and permeability as well as matrix permeabilities. The two cases are comparatively analyzed and skin is determined. A generalized correlation for determination of skin is derived through application of multivariate regression technique on obtained skins and their corresponding variables.

  • Patent number: 9684084
Abstract: A roadmap for a field development strategy for optimal recovery is provided in a high quality 3D geological model. This geological model combines geological attributes, pore and rock properties for an optimum 3D representation of the reservoir thousands of feet beneath the surface. The model is based on the pertinent geological facies, derived from well core description and detailed studies of rock, as well as fluid and pore properties (Full Pore System) obtained from laboratory analyses of core material and well log data. These data differentiate various important pore throat and pore body regions and relationships, i.e., macroporosity and microporosity. Understanding hydrocarbon volumes in the various pore type groups and then establishing proper recovery techniques through focused laboratory studies yields a field development strategy that can significantly increase hydrocarbon recovery from a reservoir.

  • Patent number: 9679029
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for adapting an information extraction middleware for a clustered computing environment (e.g., a cloud environment) by creating and managing a set of statistical models generated from performance statistics of operating devices within the clustered computing environment. This approach takes into account the required accuracy in modeling, including computation cost of modeling, to pick the best modeling solution at a given point in time. When higher accuracy is desired (e.g., nearing workload saturation), the approach adapts to use an appropriate modeling algorithm. Adapting statistical models to the data characteristics ensures optimal accuracy with minimal computation time and resources for modeling. This approach provides intelligent selective refinement of models using accuracy-based and operating probability-based triggers to optimize the clustered computing environment, i.e., maximize accuracy and minimize computation time.
