Abstract: Systems and techniques are described herein for annotating media content. For example, a process can include obtaining media content and generate, use one or more machine learning models, a metadata file for at least a portion of the media content. The metadata file includes one or more metadata descriptions. The process can include generating a text description of the media content based on the one or more metadata descriptions of the metadata file. The process can include annotating the media content use the text description.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices relating to determining an introduction portion in a video program are described herein. A method may determine first and second hard-matching pairs of video segments in first and second video content such that video fingerprints of the first hard-matching pair match and video fingerprints of the second hard-matching pair also match. The method may classify a third pair of video segments in the first and second video content, sequentially between the first and second hard-matching pairs, as a soft-matching pair of video segments of an introduction portion. The method may use the classification of the third pair of video segments as a soft-matching pair to determine a model configured to determine that a pair of video segments in two video content items are a soft-matching pair of video segments of an introduction portion.

Abstract: The present invention provides a digital broadcast receiver capable of executing functions having higher added values. The broadcast receiver receives a broadcast wave of a digital broadcast service, controls an operation including activation and end of an application that is in cooperation with a broadcast program based on application-related information, and selects control relating to reactivation of the application based on a user's operation. If activation of the application is requested after the end of the application, the broadcast receiver controls the reactivation or non-reactivation of the application in accordance with the selection of control by the user.

Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method may include accessing media segments that correspond to respective media items. At least one of the media segments may be divided into discrete video shots. The method may also include matching the discrete video shots in the media segments to corresponding video shots in the corresponding media items according to various matching factors. The method may further include generating a relative similarity score between the matched video shots in the media segments and the corresponding video shots in the media items, and training a machine learning model to automatically identify video shots in the media items according to the generated relative similarity score between matched video shots. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to estimate population reach from marginal ratings with missing information. An example apparatus includes a pseudo universe calculator to (i) determine a first pseudo universe estimate for a first audience of media corresponding to a first union of first margins, the first margins corresponding to known audience totals, and (ii) determine a second pseudo universe estimate for a second audience of the media corresponding to a second union of second margins, the determination based on an audience constant, the second margins including a margin corresponding to an unknown audience total. The example apparatus also includes a reach calculator to (i) determine an estimate of the unknown audience total of the second audience based on the second pseudo universe estimate for the second audience, and (ii) determine a reach estimate for the second union based on the first and second pseudo universe estimates.

An example embodiment operates by detecting an audience within a vicinity of a media device based on identifying information received by the media device, determining a category of the audience with a user identification system based on the identifying information, identifying a content tailoring rule for the audience based on the category of the audience, retrieving a content to be played by the media device, and modifying the content based on the content tailoring rule and a category label of the content.

Abstract: A method and server for generating modified audio data for a video file are disclosed. The method includes acquiring a sequence of first audio portions, and a sequence of second audio portions in different languages. The method includes generating a plurality of candidate arrangements of the sequence of the second audio portions, where a given candidate arrangement is associated with candidate timestamps in the video file and candidate compression rates for respective ones from the sequence of second audio portions. The method includes selecting a target arrangement for the sequence of the second audio portions from the plurality of candidates. The selection is based on the target arrangement having a minimal penalty score amongst penalty scores associated with the plurality of candidates. The method includes generating at least one modified audio portion for the video file as a translation of the audio data using the target arrangement.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for storing configuration data as a set of master data and override data where one set of configuration data is defined as the master and every other set of configuration data is defined as override configuration data. A media guidance application may generate master configuration data including the most common configuration data used in the geographical region served by the media guidance application, and number of override configurations which contain only those data which differ from the master configuration data for a number of sub-regions of the geographical region. This reduces duplicative configuration data, and the media guidance application need only store one full set of configuration data, namely the master configuration data, and a number of smaller override configurations.

Abstract: Multiple different versions of media content are contained in a single package of audio-video media content, using compression algorithms that reduce storage and bandwidth required for storing multiple full-resolution versions of the media. Portions of individual frames are replaced during playback so that only the pixels that differ between versions need to be stored.

Abstract: A system includes a processor, and a memory storing software code and a machine learning (ML) model trained to allocate media production resources. The processor executes the software code to receive data describing a media flow requiring processing, identify, using the data and the ML model, media production resources for processing the described media flow, obtain the media production resources, and aggregate, from each of the media production resources, performance and billing metrics of a respective one of the media production resources resulting from processing of the described media flow by the media production resources. The processor may further execute the software code to determine, using the aggregated performance and billing metrics, a resource allocation efficiency score corresponding to each of one or more of the media production resources to provide one or more resource allocation efficiency score(s), and further train, using the resource allocation efficiency score(s), the ML model.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, in accordance with one embodiment, includes detecting cultural context and accents of speakers portrayed in a video stream and/or an audience of the video stream. Accent tags are selected for the speakers according to the cultural context and accents of the speakers and/or the audience of the video stream. A textual representation of spoken words of the speakers is translated from a source language to a target language. The accent tags are applied to the textual representation of the spoken words in the target language according to the speakers corresponding to the textual representation of the spoken words in the target language. Speech lip movements of the speakers portrayed in the video stream are modified to match the target language and the locale accent tags. A translated video stream having the speakers appearing to speak in the target language with the modified lip movements is output.

Abstract: An audio mixing method for network streaming includes the steps of establishing a network streaming connection between the first end and the second end, generating a text voiced audio signal based on a trigger signal by the first end, mixing a play signal and the text voiced audio signal into a play signal with the text voiced audio signal, in the state of the network streaming connection, transmitting the play signal with text voiced audio signal to the second end, and the play signal with text voiced audio signal is played by the second end.

The computing system determines that the at least one first image depicts a CATV tap comprising a plurality of coaxial connectors. The computing system determines, based in part on the at least one first image and a set of coaxial cables, each coaxial cable connected to a coaxial connector of the plurality of coaxial connectors, that a use status of the CATV tap is an authorized use status or an unauthorized use status. The computing system performs an action based on the use status.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to model on/off states of media presentation devices based on return path data are disclosed. An apparatus includes a memory and processor circuitry to execute instructions stored in the memory to: generate a probability distribution of actual durations of first tuning segments, the first tuning segments representative of lengths of time during which panelists accessed first media; modify the lengths associated with ones of the first tuning segments to generate second tuning segments having second durations; and estimate a time when a media device associated with a return path data (RPD) device is powered on based on (i) the probability distribution, (ii) the second tuning segments, and (iii) a third tuning segment during which the RPD device accessed second media, the third tuning segment reported from the RPD device.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a live streaming and device, where the method includes: receiving push information of a target creation sent by a server, where the push information is sent by the server based on that the server determines that play popularity of the target creation meets preset popularity; and in response to an operation of a user on the push information, entering a first page of a live streaming application (App). In the embodiment of the present disclosure, by pushing the target creation whose play popularity exceeds preset popularity to the user, to prompt the user that one target creation is becoming a hot creation, so as to guide the user to go live with the target creation as a topic.

Abstract: A customized highlight sequence depicting multiple events, and based on a user's personal characteristics, interests, and/or preferences, is generated and presented. The events can be sporting events, entertainment events, and/or the like. For example, in the context of sporting events, a determination is made as to what types of sports, teams, leagues, players, plays, and/or the like are of interest to the user. In at least one embodiment, the amount of time available to the user can be obtained, so that the length of the highlight sequence can be tailored to the available time. A customized highlight sequence is then generated and presented, containing those specific portions of the sporting events that are likely to be of interest, arranged in a manner that is likely to be entertaining to the user and comports with the time restrictions.

Abstract: Methods and systems for using text data in content presentation and content search are disclosed. Text data and a plurality of video frames can be extracted from a content program and stored in a database. Extracted text data can be divided into a plurality of text segments. The plurality of text segments and the plurality of video frames can be presented in the form of an electronic book or guide. In addition, the content program can be divided into a plurality of content segments and stored in the database. The plurality of content segments and the plurality of text segments can be associated by time indices. A user can identify one or more content segments in the database by a query, and notifications can be sent according to the query.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media for audio/video recognition and adaptive packet transmission are disclosed. A first content item that includes audio content and video content may be received and processed to detect a set of one or more video characteristics and/or a set of one or more audio characteristics that may be analyzed to identify the first content item as corresponding to a service provider system. The first content item may be transferred for display with an endpoint media device. At least one electronic signal may be received and processed, the at least one electronic signal indicative of execution of at least one operation of a set of one or more operations relating to one or more images of the first content item consequent to the display of the first content with the endpoint media device.

Abstract: A method of encoding packets of a media stream includes establishing a data connection between a client device and a server, sending a first packet of the media stream from the server to the client device at a first bit rate, receiving, at the server, a first acknowledgment signal from the client device responsive to receipt of the first packet, determining a second bit rate based on the first acknowledgment signal, and sending a second packet of the media stream from the server to the client at the second bit rate.
