Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a latency stabilization system for stabilizing the display latency between a source and a renderer over an IP network. The latency stabilization system comprises a frequency syntonization module, a frequency lock detection module, and a phase correction module. The frequency syntonization module can be configured to syntonize a frequency of a source signal from the source and a frequency of a display signal to be displayed on the renderer. The frequency lock detection module can be configured to detect whether the frequency of the source signal and the frequency of the display signal are locked. The phase correction module can be configured to, synchronize a phase of the source signal and a phase of the display signal, and generate correction data based in part on synchronization of the phase of the source signal and the phase of the display signal.

  • Patent number: 8891023
Abstract: A display device includes: a monitor and receiving set having a video signal receiving section, a display section, an image quality control section, a first control signal transceiver, and a first control section; and a control and transmission set having a television broadcast receiving section, a video signal input section, a video signal transmitting section, a second control signal transceiver, a key input section, and a second control section. The Power consumption of a first radio transmission path formed by the video signal transmitting section and the video signal receiving section is larger than that of a second radio transmission path formed by the first and second control signal transceivers. A control signal for a user interface is communicated by the first and second control signal transceivers. Only the second radio transmission path of the first and second radio transmission paths is communicable in a standby state.

  • Patent number: 8854447
Abstract: Embodiments provide methods and systems for adjusting audio output based on eye tracking input. In some embodiments, a memory stores data defining a boundary based on a coordinate system. The boundary corresponds to a display element of displayed content. An input receives data indicating coordinates of a gaze point location of a user viewing the displayed content. A processor compares the received coordinates of the gaze point location to the boundary corresponding to the display element to determine whether the gaze point location is inside the boundary corresponding to the display element. In response to determining that the gaze point location is inside the boundary corresponding to the display element, the processor adjusts an audio setting of the displayed content.

  • Patent number: 8803979
Abstract: An imager including a self test mode. The imager includes a pixel array for providing multiple pixel output signals via multiple columns; and a test switch for (a) receiving a test signal from a test generator and (b) disconnecting a pixel output signal from a column of the pixel array. The test switch provides the test signal to the column of the pixel array. The test signal includes a test voltage that replaces the pixel output signal. The test signal is digitized by an analog-to digital converter (ADC) and provided to a processor. The processor compares the digitized test signal to an expected pixel output signal. The processor also interpolates the output signal from a corresponding pixel using adjacent pixels, when the test switch disconnects the pixel output signal from the column of the pixel array.

  • Patent number: 8655031
Abstract: Apparatus for identifying video content includes a scene detector to detect a plurality of consecutive scenes in the video content. The video content may include a video program and an advertisement contained within the video program. A signature generator determines a scene change signature for each of the plurality of consecutive scenes. A content identifier provides the plurality of scene change signatures to a comparator that compares the plurality of scene change signatures to a database having a plurality of video content items to identify the video program. The database includes an ordered plurality of previously determined scene change signatures for each item of video content in the database. The content identifier receives an identification of the video content from the comparator. The content identifier may further receive information related to a position of the plurality of scene change signatures within the ordered plurality of previously determined scene change signatures.

  • Patent number: 8576336
Abstract: A video formatter reformats progressive video using a film-based video film rate and a display refresh rate to determine a frame OFF period for a progressive video sequence. The video formatter inserts at least one black frame into the progressive video sequence to approximate the frame OFF period. Typically, the film rate is 24 frames per second (industry standard) and, thus, the display refresh rate can be a multiple of the frame rate (e.g., 96 Hz, 120 Hz, 240 Hz, etc.). Progressive video replicates a single frame of a film several times (“a progressive video sequence”) depending on a display's refresh rate. The black frame(s) is/are substituted at the end of this sequence instead of displaying the same image throughout for a single film frame.
