  • Patent number: 10841716
Abstract: A hearing device includes a wireless communication unit, such as a radio frequency transceiver, and a two-half loop antenna. The antenna includes a conductor defining a first half loop and a second half loop configured to be fed in series with a radio signal from a radio frequency transceiver. The first half loop and the second half loop have mirror images forming respective half loops of the two-half loop antenna. Transverse segments of the first half loop and second half loop join the first half loop and the second half loop at a mid-point of the antenna near a feeding point. The physical antenna length of the antenna is less than ¾ of the wavelength of the radio frequency signal to be transmitted or received through the antenna. An electrical length of the antenna is approximately equal to the wavelength of the radio frequency signal to be transmitted or received.

  • Patent number: 10820091
Abstract: A method for operating a piezoelectric speaker for generating sound waves in the audible wavelength spectrum and/or in the ultrasonic range includes at least partially charging a piezo actuator of the piezoelectric speaker with electrical energy of an energy unit and then at least partially discharging the piezo actuator. The method also includes determining at least one present electrical piezo actuator voltage of the piezo actuator. A future input voltage for the piezo actuator is compared with the present electrical piezo actuator voltage prior to charging and/or discharging, and a future differential voltage is derived therefrom. Furthermore, an embodiment of the method can include returning a part of the energy needed to charge the piezo actuator to the energy unit during discharging.

  • Patent number: 10812912
Abstract: An improved loudspeaker is disclosed. The speaker includes at least one permanent magnet, an electromagnet and a diaphragm. The diaphragm has an inner portion (active portion) and an outer portion (stabilizing portion) that are both typically ring-shaped. The interaction between the magnets causes the inner portion to move back and forth according to the electrical signal inputted. As the inner portion moves forward, the outer portion tends to move backward relative to the inner portion. The movement of the active portion tends to produce corresponding forces on the stabilizing portion that cause the stabilizing portion to move and create sound in a symbiotic fashion. In certain embodiments, the portions move relative to each other as sound is produced so that a relatively constant volume of air is displaced on either side of the diaphragm thus minimizing acoustic distortion.

Abstract: An ear unit for stably fitting in an ear includes a first surface facing inwardly toward the ear, a second, opposite surface facing outwardly from the ear and an outer circumferential surface formed between the first and second surfaces. The outer circumferential surface is shaped as a decremental curve. The distance between the ends of the decremental curve is approximately equal to the distance between a first cavity formed under the tragus of the ear and second cavity covered by the lower node of the antihelix of the ear. The first surface is provided with a curvature that provides a contact surface that substantially conforms to the concha, providing an improved attachment, thereby enabling the ear unit to fit closely against the concha when the ear unit is positioned into the ear.
