    Abstract: Solid-state lighting devices, and more particularly to a three-dimensional (3D) light-emitting diode (LED) device and a method of manufacture are disclosed. A submount of the LED can have several submount portions that are angled with respect to each other, and LED chips can be mounted on each submount portion, such that the LED chips of the device are angled at different angles with respect to each other. In an embodiment, the LED device can include a heatsink that is in contact with each of the submount portions to channel heat away from the LED chips. The LED chips can be mounted on the submount portions when all submount portions are laying flat, and then the submount portions can be pushed or punched into their respective angles.

    Abstract: Provided is a lightbulb that is configured such that the light source of the lightbulb has a reduced visibility. This is achieved by the provision of a lens arrangement comprising an outer convergent lens. The outer convergent lens converges light rays that enter the outer convergent lens at a same first angle to establish a shadow region. The shadow region is a volume in the lightbulb in which light rays incident to the outer convergent lens at a first angle may not be incident. Put another way, light rays input at the first angle may avoid the shadow region. Thus, by positioning the light source at least partially within the shadow region, the light source may be obscured when viewed from certain viewing angles. In this way, an aesthetic appeal of the lightbulb may be improved, as the light source is not visible from some viewing angles.

The fixture has a plug with conductive terminals that are mateable with the socket to connect the fixture to an electrical signal connected to the socket. A release latch extends from the plug so that an end of the latch is not recessed within the junction box, and can be pushed to release the plug and fixture for removal. The socket is attached to extension arms that are attachable to the junction box, so that the socket can be positioned at the correct height within the box to properly mate with the plug of the fixture after insertion.
