Abstract: Disclosed is an agricultural film produced by forming into a film a composition comprising (a) a polyolefin resin, (b) a dripping agent, (c) a heat stabilizer and (d) a weather resistance improving agent and (e) a solution of a hypophosphite compound in an organic solvent.
Abstract: A method for increasing the slip of polyolefins and improving the adhesion of water based inks of polyolefins by incorporating into the polyolefin an effective amount of a lactamide having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is alkenyl having from about 12 to about 22 carbon atoms. Optionally, there can be included with the lactamide a finely divided inorganic material. Also disclosed are compositions of matter comprising a polyolefin, such as homopolymers and copolymers of ethylene and propylene, the aforedescribed lactamide and optionally a finely divided inorganic material. Also described is the new compound, N-erucyl lactamide.
Abstract: A corrosive resistant coating with deep drawability characteristics which is applied to a metal substrate as a wet film and then heated to dry and initiate curing to provide a protective coating tenaciously bonded to the substrate. The composition has a corrosion inhibiting powder metal, a drawing agent of polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), a primary bonding resin, and a vehicle of solvents. Preferably, the coating composition also has a secondary organic resin and thixotropic, metal suspension and hydroscopic agents. The cured coating composition on a metal substrate, in most instances, eliminates the needs for additional die drawing compounds when deep cold drawing the coated metal substrate.

Abstract: A novel hair waving agent comprises as its main ingredient a thioglyceryl alkyl ether or 1-phenyl-2-mercaptoethanol. The agent has low irritativeness and the good capability of wave formation.
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, an improved method for preparing acrylic copolymer resins is provided in which the polymerization solvent includes an internal olefin. The monomers comprise hydroxy-substituted alkyl (meth)acrylates, and non-hydroxy substituted alkyl (meth)acrylates, and the process provides an improved method for forming low molecular weight acrylic resins useful as components in high solids acrylic coatings suitable for electrostatic spraying. The polymerization solvent can remain in the resin to become the solvent employed in the higher solids coating containing the thus-formed acrylic resins and provides surprisingly improved electrical resistivity and color decreased over previously used polymerization solvents, and has good compatibility with the acrylic monomer/resin system.
