  • Patent number: 10771831
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a system that predicts an interest of a viewer in a media program that will be available for consumption over a content delivery network, determines a first advertisement that may be shown to the viewer during a broadcast of the media program, and transmits the first advertisement to a local device of the viewer in advance of the broadcast of the media program. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10764655
Abstract: Standard video (and audio) data are combined or blended with immersive video (and audio) data. The data may be collected together, and the standard video views may be a default or reflect a primary view or scene for certain content. The immersive video views may be adjacent or around the primary view, and are available for viewing based upon audience input. The data are blended temporally and spatially to synchronize and align them for virtually seamless transition between the standard video view and the immersive video views. Blending may be performed before distribution, after distribution, or some combination of these.

  • Patent number: 10764642
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivering video programs are provided. A plurality of video programs are provided in a fragmented, adaptive bit rate format. A request for a respective video program from the plurality of video programs is received from each of a plurality of clients. The requested video programs are multiplexed for delivery to the clients in a multiplex over a shared, fixed-bit-rate transmission channel. In the fragmented, adaptive bit rate format, the fragment delivered to the client may not be the same as the requested fragment and is dependent on multiple criteria, including the bitrate and quality of the requested and delivered fragments, the total available delivery bandwidth, and other fragment requests made on the channel. The resulting multiplex may be either a constant bit rate multiplex or a variable bit rate multiplex.

  • Patent number: 10753857
Abstract: A method for measuring microscopic object velocities in fluid flow in a capillary tube including scanning a microscope focal plane through a fluid filled space for objects, where the scanning follows an interrupted repeating pattern having sub-patterns where the sub-patterns position the microscope focus plane beginning at a selected focus position at a first time and ending at the selected focus position at a later second time. A sensor registers images in image frames during the scanning. A first object image is registered in a first image frame at the selected focus position and a second object image is registered in a second image frame at the selected focus position. The object in the first object image and the second object image are identified as the same object. A processor determines a velocity for the identified object.

  • Patent number: 10757453
Abstract: A content streaming system and methodology for facilitating the management of content streaming. A video packaging and origination service requests streaming content that is organized according to content segments. Individual content segments will be encoded according to a plurality of encoding profiles and received at different ingress nodes within video packaging and origination service. The video packaging and origination service utilizes deterministic data generated by the different ingress nodes to determine when receipt of individual content segments is complete.

  • Patent number: 10757400
Abstract: A near eye display device includes a sparse array of intensity modulated light beam emission and steering points disposed on a transparent lens, capable of forming a wide field of view composite image directly on the retina with variable degrees of apparent depth controlled by an image forming timing signal. The active regions of the beam emission and steering elements is configured so as not to generate optical aberrations of transmitted ambient light that is apparent to the eye. The display may be applied to small form factor stereoscopic head worn display systems and used in conjunction with Augmented Reality software applications.

  • Patent number: 10743050
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for substituting an updated segment of media guidance data that no longer includes a selected media asset identifier with another segment of media guidance data that includes the selected media asset identifier. A media guidance application may determine, following an update to a segment of media guidance data, that a selected media asset identifier, associated with a given media asset classifier, is no longer included in the updated segment of media guidance data. The media guidance application may retrieve another segment of media guidance data that is associated with the given media asset classifier and that includes the selected media asset identifier.

  • Patent number: 10735665
Abstract: An information handling system operating a wearable headset IR emitter saturation correction system may comprise an infrared emitter emitting IR light, a camera capturing a calibration image and a first session image of the IR light reflected from a landmark, and a SLAM engine generating a first session SLAM frame. A processor may execute code instructions to compare the measured calibration pixel brightness value for each pixel associated with the landmark in a calibration image with a measured first session pixel brightness value for each pixel associated with the landmark in the first session image to determine whether the first session SLAM frame is over or under saturated, and determine an adjusted brightness if the first session SLAM frame is over or under saturated. The infrared emitter may emit light according to the adjusted brightness.

  • Patent number: 10721512
Abstract: A distribution system for transmitting media content programs to premises equipment via a satellite transmission path addresses signal degradation caused by atmospheric conditions and other factors. Upon detection of a degradation of the satellite signal, the system may begin transmitting the content using an alternative signal path, such as a terrestrial IP network. The satellite transmission path is brought back on line after the satellite link is restored. Alternatively, the system may begin recording the signal in the media distribution system for transmission via the satellite link after the link is restored.

  • Patent number: 10721536
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting custom navigation options are described herein. In some embodiments, the media guidance application displays a first portion of a media asset, and receives a user selection of an entity depicted within the portion. The media guidance application identifies a playlist of media asset portions associated with the entity, and generates for display a transport bar associated with the entity comprising an indicator identifying the entity and only one or more regions associated with the playlist of media asset portions. The media guidance application then receives a second user selection, and generates for display a second portion of the media asset associated with the entity in response. In some embodiments, the media guidance application identifies the playlist by searching a custom presentation database for entries associated with the entity, and retrieves the playlist from the identified entry.

  • Patent number: 10715870
Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for providing streamlined access to media assets of interest to a user. The method includes determining that a supplemental viewing device, through which a user views a field of view, is directed at a first field of view. The method further involves detecting that the supplemental viewing device is now directed at a second field of view, and determining that a media consumption device is within the second field of view. A first media asset of interest to the user that is available for consumption via the media consumption device is identified, and the supplemental viewing device generates a visual indication in the second field of view. The visual indication indicates that the first media asset is available for consumption via the media consumption device, and the visual indication tracks a location of the media consumption device in the second field of view.
