Abstract: Tissue localization devices and methods of localizing tissue using tissue localization devices are disclosed. The tissue localization device can comprise a handle comprising a delivery control, a delivery needle extending out from the handle, and a localization element within the delivery needle. The localization element can be deployed out of the delivery needle or retracted back into the delivery needle when the delivery control is translated in a first direction or a second direction, respectively. The localization element can be coupled to a flexible tracking wire.

Abstract: For estimating attenuation in ultrasound imaging, displacements at different locations along an acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) beam are used measured. The on-axis displacements and displacements from a phantom using a same ARFI focus as a reference are used to cancel out focusing effects. A single ARFI beam may be used to estimate the attenuation for a location.
Abstract: A vital sign detection system includes a radar device, a nonreciprocal network, a first antenna and a second antenna. An output signal from the radar device is delivered to the first antenna via the nonreciprocal network and then transmitted to a first side of a biological subject via the first antenna. A first reflection signal from the first side of the biological subject is received by the first antenna and then delivered to the second antenna via the nonreciprocal network and then transmitted to a second side of the biological subject via the second antenna. A second reflection signal from the second side of the biological subject is received by the second antenna and then delivered to the radar device via the nonreciprocal network for vital sign detection with random body movement cancellation.

A degree of similarity deriving section derives, for each of the set sound velocities, a degree of mutual similarity among received signals that were phased by the phasing processing section. An optimal set sound velocity deriving section derives, as an optimal set sound velocity, an estimated value of sound velocity of the subject interior on the basis of the degree of mutual similarity among the received signals of each of the set sound velocities.

Abstract: A planet gearbox has a planet gear rotatable on a planet bearing that includes an inner ring that is mounted to a carrier of an epicyclic gearing arrangement. A respective cylindrical inner surface of each opposite respective end of the inner ring is non-rotatably connected to a respective cylindrical outer surface of a respective one of a pair of support plugs that are fixed to the carrier of the epicyclic gearing arrangement. A gas turbine engine includes a fan and LP shaft, which couples a compressor to a turbine. An epicyclic gearing arrangement has a single input from the LP shaft coupled to a sun gear, a single output coupled to the fan's shaft, and at least one planet bearing as described above.
Abstract: The invention relates to an imaging system for imaging a periodically moving object. An assigning unit (18) assigns ultrasound signals like A-lines to motion phases based on a provided phase signal, wherein an ultrasound images generation unit (19) generates several ultrasound images like gated M-mode images for the different motion phases based on the ultrasound signals assigned to the respective motion phase. A selecting unit (20) is used to select an ultrasound image from the generated ultrasound images, wherein a display unit (21) displays the selected ultrasound image. The selected ultrasound image corresponds therefore to a single motion phase only such that motion artifacts in the displayed ultrasound image are reduced. The imaging system is particularly useful for, for instance, monitoring cardiac ablation procedures.

Abstract: An apparatus and a process for converting a twin spool aero gas turbine engine to an industrial gas turbine engine, where the fan of the aero engine is removed and replaced with an electric generator, a power turbine is added that drives a low pressure compressor that is removed from the aero engine, variable guide vanes are positioned between the high pressure turbine and the power turbine, and a low pressure compressed air line is connected between the outlet of the low pressure compressor and an inlet to the high pressure compressor, where a hot gas flow produced in the combustor first flows through the high pressure turbine, then through the low pressure turbine, and then through the power turbine.

Abstract: An aircraft, controller, and method for simultaneously using a liquid fuel and a gaseous fuel. The use of natural gas and other similar fuels in gas turbines engines can enable an aircraft to operate less expensively. However, aircraft often use liquid fuels en route to the gas turbine engine burners for secondary purposes, such as oil cooling and hydraulic pressure. The aircraft, controllers, and methods described herein feed a minimal quantity of liquid fuel to an engine to satisfy the secondary purposes while simultaneously feeding a quantity of gaseous fuel to the engine to satisfy a thrust command for the engine.

Abstract: A method of power production using a high pressure/low pressure ratio Brayton Power cycle with predominantly N2 mixed with CO2 and H2O combustion products as the working fluid is provided. The high pressure can be in the range 80 bar to 500 bar. The pressure ratio can be in the range 1.5 to 10. The natural gas fuel can be burned in a first high pressure combustor with a near stoichiometric quantity of pressurized preheated air and the net combustion gas can be mixed with a heated high pressure recycle N2+CO2+H2O stream which moderates the mixed gas temperature to the value required for the maximum inlet temperature to a first power turbine producing shaft power.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system and method that allows air to be extracted from a plurality of gas turbine engines and fed to a downstream process, even in situations in which one or more of the gas turbine engines are operating in a part load condition. For example, in an embodiment, a method includes monitoring signals representative of a header pressure of a header, or a pressure of extraction air flow from one or more gas turbine engines to the header, or both, and maintaining substantially continuous flows of extraction air from the gas turbine engines to the header. The substantially continuous flows are maintained when the gas turbine engines are under symmetric and asymmetric load conditions.

Abstract: An inner diffuser case for a gas turbine engine may include a pre-diffuser including a plurality of struts. At least one of the struts may include an aperture therethrough. A cone may have a downstream end coupled to the pre-diffuser downstream of, and proximate to, the aperture. A skirt may have a forward end coupled to the pre-diffuser downstream of, and proximate to, the aperture. The forward end of the skirt may be axially aligned with the downstream end of the cone.
