Abstract: A load balancer computer for configuring a load balancing program in the load balancer for a cluster of servers to dispatch client requests to the servers in the cluster. The load balancer computer includes one or more storage devices and program instructions stored on the storage devices. The program instructions are: to detect that the cluster cannot handle the client requests with a predetermined level of performance, and in response, automatically request configuration information for another server not currently active in the cluster, to configure the load balancing program for adding the other server to the cluster to handle client requests; and to automatically configure the load balancing program for the cluster to add the other server to the cluster in accordance with the configuration information received for the other server. The configuration information configures the load balancing program for the other server based on a cookie affinity rule.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein comprise a system and method for improving visibility of a roadway using an improved visibility system. The method comprising receiving data from a plurality of fog detectors located proximate a roadway and determining, based on the data from the plurality of fog detectors, that fog is present about the roadway. The method further comprising obtaining, after the determining that fog is present about the roadway, a plurality of images of the roadway by activating a plurality of cameras located proximate the roadway. The method further comprising creating a composite image by combining two or more of the plurality of images, wherein the composite image depicts the roadway unobstructed by fog and transmitting the composite image to a display device located in a vehicle traveling along the roadway.

Abstract: A method for evaluating an online entity presence includes receiving a set of social media information for at least one entity and calculating a social media measurement where the social media measurement is associated with the set of social media information. The method further includes receiving a set of online profile information for the at least one entity, the set of online profile information being associated with one or more non-social media online profiles, and calculating an online profile measurement wherein the online profile measurement is associated with the set of online profile information. The method further includes calculating a reach value, the reach value being associated with the social media measurement and the online profile measurement and providing a reach score to a user where the reach score associated with the reach value.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a media player at a computing device, a first portion of a media stream, and initiating playback of the first portion of the media stream. The method also includes receiving a second portion of the media stream during the playback of the first portion of the media stream, the second portion of the media stream including a platform-independent representation of source code. The method further includes compiling the platform-independent representation of the source code to generate a platform-specific component that is executable by the computing device. The method includes executing the platform-specific component at the computing device during execution of the media player at the computing device.

The method can include receiving a request from an IM user to queue an unattended status and time-based message, retrieving a recovery trigger for the unattended status and time-based message, and assigning the unattended status and time-based message to a message queue.

Abstract: A time series data processing device for processing time series data that is a sequence of data received from a system that is a processing target over time includes a time series data search processing unit that receives, for details of the time series data and occurrence time information, a time series data search condition including events of a plurality of the time series data and an interval condition that is a condition of time intervals of the events occurring, and changes the interval condition using an allowable time lag that is allowable time of a set time lag in a transmission source of the time series data to thereby reflect the set time lag in the time series data search condition; and a data monitoring unit that monitors the time series data received from the system that is the processing target, using the time series data search condition changed by the time series data search processing unit.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to setting up direct mapped routers located across independently managed compute and storage networks for enabling multiple modes of communication over the cross-coupled links between the networks. An aspect includes identifying a characteristic of a local entity based on a unique location identifier assigned to the local entity and learning a characteristic of a remote entity based on a location identifier received over a cross-coupled link between the local entity and the remote entity. A port on a local entity router is then correlated with the received location identifier of the remote entity. A route is then built in the direct mapped router table at a location pointed to by the location identifier of the remote entity. An optimistic failover route is established from a storage entity to a compute entity when a cross-coupled link between the storage entity and the compute entity is broken.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a computer implemented method of defining and executing tasks in a client-server architecture. The method includes receiving, at a server, a definition of a task to be performed by a client, wherein the definition of the task includes a set of client properties relevant to the task. The method further includes repeatedly receiving, at the server, reports of the client, wherein each of the reports comprises a status of each of a plurality of client properties. The method further includes determining, at the server, a characteristic of the set of client properties based at least in part on the reports, and determining, at the server, a level of service for executing the task based at least in part on the characteristic of the set of client properties.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to management of hybrid workloads, including serial and parallel workload optimizations, in a shared pool of configurable computer resources. Resource utilization in the shared pool is dynamically tracked, and employed for assessing a set of servers a parallel access protocol should utilize for one or more I/O requests in conjunction with any serial workload optimizations. Accordingly, the load balancing embodies a diverse set of workloads to support dynamic and equitable allocation.

Abstract: A system and method for the late-biding of time-based media in real-time. With late binding, the sender may create time-based media before or at the same time an active delivery route to the recipient is discovered. As soon as the route becomes available, the media is transmitted. The existing DNS and email infrastructure is possibly used for route discovery, while any real-time transmission protocol may be used for the actual delivery of the media. “Progressive” emails may also be used for the real-time delivery of time-based media.

Abstract: Method and apparatus whereby one or more vehicle nodes are configured for use in a vehicular communications network which provides for exchange of data between a plurality of vehicle nodes and a plurality of stationary nodes, where each stationary node comprises a computing unit operable to broadcast periodic announcements of services, and to receive identity messages from the vehicle node on at least one common IEEE 802.11 Medium Access Control (MAC) channel. Abstract: A method and associated systems for reusing digital assets and automatically updating user and asset eminence values associated with each asset reuse. Users each control a collection of digital assets and each user and each asset is assigned an eminence value that represents a relative importance of a user or asset. When a first user accesses an asset, that asset is copied to the first user's collection. When a second user accesses the first user's copy, the asset is copied to the second user's collection, and the eminence of the first user and of the asset are increased. When a third user accesses the second user's copy, the asset is copied to the third user's collection and first-user's, second-user's, and asset's eminence values increase. The second user may automatically locate an asset in the first user's collection by “following” the first user.

Abstract: Methods, systems and devices are described for place shifting media content from a computer system to a remotely-located display over a network. The media content to be place shifted is captured at the computer system, wherein the media content includes a portion of imagery presented on a local display associated with the computer system. The captured media content is transcoded or otherwise converted to a media stream in a format that is transmittable on the network. The media stream is then transmitted on the network for presentation on the remotely-located display.

Abstract: In a system that separates the control (management) layer from the data layer of a distributed storage system, an application programming interface (API) provider is presented that manages storage awareness of the virtual control servers with at least one virtual array and underlying physical arrays. The system described herein advantageously enables multi-tenant support to provide individual and/or isolated access to shared storage resources among multiple tenants and offers improved scalability and operations in a cloud deployment.
