  • Patent number: 11647258
Abstract: A system and method for inserting secondary content, e.g., advertisement content, graphics, images, etc., in a 360-degree immersive video environment. When a request is received from a client device for playing a video asset, a plurality of video tiles of the video asset are selected to be assembled as a video frame for delivery to the client device. A portion of the video tiles are identified that can be replaced with a corresponding set of advertisement content tiles, e.g., based on gaze vector information and/or a tile metadata specification containing advertisement insertion availability timing information with respect to each of the tiles of the video frame. After replacing the portion of the identified video tiles, the corresponding set of advertisement content tiles and remaining video tiles are assembled into the video frame including the advertisement content tiles at select locations, which is transmitted to the client device.

  • Patent number: 11614410
Abstract: Structural health monitoring (SHM)/nondestructive evaluation (NDE) exists as a tool in conjunction with manufactured pieces. Presently disclosed subject matter integrates automated video with a structural health monitoring system. In conjunction with bridge monitoring, integration of such two systems automates determination of the effect or correlation of vehicular loading on SHM data from a subject bridge. Such correlations help to understand the sources of structural health monitoring data, particularly acoustic emission data, in bridges and other structures, such as dams and nuclear plants. Automation of the evaluation of bridges and other structures increases accuracy and minimizes risk to workers and the public. Assessing the structural condition of bridges and other structures as presently disclosed also facilitates automated asset management of transportation systems, such as by state departments of transportation and other bridge/structural owners.

  • Patent number: 11595674
Abstract: Reconstructing a second component signal relating to a second component of a multi-component picture from a spatially corresponding portion of a reconstructed first component signal and a correction signal derived from a data stream for the second component promises increased coding efficiency over a broader range of multi-component picture content. By including the spatially corresponding portion of the reconstructed first component signal into the reconstruction of the second component signal, any remaining inter-component redundancies/correlations present such as still present despite a possibly a priori performed component space transformation, or present because of having been introduced by such a priori performed component space transformation, for example, may readily be removed by way of the inter-component redundancy/correlation reduction of the second component signal.

  • Patent number: 11575886
Abstract: A video coding mechanism for viewpoint dependent video coding is disclosed. The mechanism includes mapping a spherical video sequence into a plurality of sub-picture video sequences. The mechanism further includes encoding the plurality of sub-picture video sequences as sub-picture bitstreams to support merging of the plurality of sub-picture bitstreams, the encoding ensuring that each sub-picture bitstream is self-referenced and two or more of the sub-picture bitstreams can be merged to generate a single video bitstream using a lightweight bitstream rewriting process that does not involve changing of any block-level coding results. A mergable indication is encoded to indicate that the sub-picture bitstream containing the indication is compatible with a multi-bitstream merge function for reconstruction of the spherical video sequence. A set of the sub-picture bitstreams and the mergable indication are transmitted toward the decoder to support decoding and displaying a virtual reality video viewport.

  • Patent number: 11488103
Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, systems for enabling facilities to implement techniques to determine when users are in possession of items when located within and/or exiting the facilities. For instance, a system may use one or more sensors to determine locations of a user that navigated through a facility. Additionally, the system may use one or more sensors to determine locations of an item while the item was located within the facility. The system may then determine a probability that the user was in possession of the item when in the facility and/or when exiting the facility based at least in part on the locations of the user and the locations of the item. If the system determines that the user was in possession of the item when exiting the facility, the system may charge a payment instrument of the user for a price of the item.
