Patent number: 6197255Abstract: A chemical analyzing apparatus comprises a reaction cell holder which holds a plurality of reaction cells that are supplied with samples and reagents at a predetermined position, a measurer for measuring characteristics of the sample, a plurality of reagent containers, a liquid deliverer provided below each of the plurality of reagent containers, one or more sound wave generators provided outside the reaction cells, and storage containers for storing cleansing liquid with different contamination states. The cleansing liquid with different contamination states is reused according to the contamination levels of the reaction cells.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1999Date of Patent: March 6, 2001Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Ryo Miyake, Yoshihiro Nagaoka, Akira Koide, Naruo Watanabe, Yasuhiko Sasaki, Hajime Kato, Takao Terayama, Hiroshi Mitsumaki, Hiroyasu Uchida, Takeshi Shibuya, Yasuhiro Yoshimura

Patent number: 6180065Abstract: A dilution reservoir (10) with one or more channels (30) is provided in which the channels (30) are easily accessible and which allow improved material manipulation. The dilution reservoir (10) includes a housing (14), having a base (18), a top (16) opposite the base (18) and a plurality of sides (20), (22). One or more channels (30) are located in said housing (14), each channel (30) having a mouth (40) at the top (16) of the housing (14) which opens into a cavity (38). Each channel (30) and each cavity (38) has a longitudinal axis (44), a transverse axis (48), a depth axis (46), and the channels (30) have arcuate cross-sections. These arcuate cross-sections provide true low points (60) in the bottom (56) of each cavity (38) which facilitate collection of material. The mouths (40) of the channels (30) are elongated in the direction of the longitudinal axis (44) thus allowing a wider range of access angles (78) for insertion of a standard pipettor.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1998Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: Dilux, Inc.Inventor: Margit E. Patent number: 6177050Abstract: A container positioning device includes a stop mechanism for stopping a carrier moving along a conveyor, the carrier supporting a container thereon. A pair of arms are pivotally mounted to move between an open position permitting the container to pass along the conveyor track, and a centering position with forward ends in contact with the container and positioning the container in a centering location. A forward end of the downstream arm is operable to move upstream and contact the container to move the container upstream to the centering location, where the second arm will contact the container to retain it in place.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1998Date of Patent: January 23, 2001Assignee: LAB-Interlink, Inc.Inventors: Thomas L. Bybee, Inna M. Zevakina

Patent number: 6174732Abstract: A method for producing and sampling chemical agent vapor comprising the steps of placing neat chemical agent in a reservoir, purging the chemical agent in the reservoir with a dry air, and analyzing the air stream exiting the reservoir. A MINICAMS having a removable PCT may be used to analyze the air stream exiting the reservoir. The method may further comprise the steps of changing the relative humidity conditions and testing chemical agent detectors.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1998Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventors: Kwok Y. Patent number: 6150173Abstract: The invention relates to an automated device for determining or identifying and measuring a random number of different molecular classes, molecular parts or molecular groups in liquid or solid objects, in particular in cells and tissue specimen, said device comprising a combination of a pipetting system, a 3D handling system and an optical measuring system, preferably a microscope stand including an imaging device. The invention further relates to an automated method for determining or identifying and mapping a random number of molecular classes, molecular parts and molecular groups in objects, with which a random number of different reagent solutions may be applied simultaneously or sequentially to a liquid or solid object, in particular a cell, cells or a tissue specimen, and measured. An important field of application of the invention is cancer research as well as research into the immune system.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1999Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Inventor: Walter Schubert

Patent number: 6146591Abstract: This device discloses a portable sequential contaminant detection system which can test samples for contaminants at predetermined timed intervals. The detection system has a motor to advance a matrix, a motor to raise and lower syringes holding liquefied samples of air to be tested, and a motor to raise and lower plungers within the syringes to draw up fluids or expel fluids into reservoir wells of the matrix to test air or other samples for contaminants. The system relies upon a "matrix" which will hold reagents with which the air samples will be mixed. The matrix is stepped to move into precise registration with the "read" module where the relative reflectance of each capture membrane reads statically by a fixed LED, silicon photodiode and amplifier associated with each channel.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1998Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Inventor: C David Miller
