  • Patent number: 10267192
Abstract: An exhaust purification system of an internal combustion engine comprising an exhaust treatment catalyst (13) arranged in an engine exhaust passage and a heat and hydrogen generation device (50) able to feed only heat or heat and hydrogen to the exhaust treatment catalyst (13). When the warm-up operation of the heat and hydrogen generation device (50) is completed and a reforming action by a reformer catalyst (54) becomes possible, if the temperature of the exhaust treatment catalyst (13) is a preset activation temperature or more, a partial oxidation reaction is performed at the heat and hydrogen generation device (50) and the generated heat and hydrogen are fed to the exhaust treatment catalyst (50). At this time, if the temperature of the exhaust treatment catalyst (13) is less than the preset activation temperature, a complete oxidation reaction by a lean air-fuel ratio is continued and a heat is fed to the exhaust treatment catalyst (13).

  • Patent number: 10267160
Abstract: Methods are provided for creating a fluidic barrier between the core stream and the bypass stream in a turbofan engine. A method comprises compressing the bypass and core streams with a fan between an upstream splitter and a downstream splitter which divides the bypass and core streams, and imparting a first momentum into the air stream proximate the fan in a region between the core and bypass streams and the upstream and downstream splitters to form a fluid barrier, wherein the first momentum of the air stream in the region is higher than a second momentum of the air stream adjacent the fluid barrier.

  • Patent number: 10260393
Abstract: An object is to prevent abrasion inside an addition valve and clogging of the addition valve due to an increase in the particle diameter of precipitates. A first control is performed by which a pump is caused to operate in such a way as to return urea solution contained in the addition valve and a urea solution channel to a tank by a predetermined quantity. After the lapse of a certain time after the end of the first control, a second control is performed by which the pump is caused to operate in such a way as to return the urea solution remaining in the addition valve and the urea solution channel thoroughly to the tank.

  • Patent number: 10260405
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has a cylinder configured to combust an air-fuel mixture and expel an exhaust gas and a turbocharger for generating a pressurized airflow to the cylinder. The turbocharger includes a turbine scroll defining an inlet and an outlet, an exhaust gas driven rotating assembly having a turbine wheel disposed inside the turbine scroll, and a waste-gate defining an opening. A first sensor detects turbine outlet pressure. A second sensor detects turbine inlet temperature. A controller determines an effective area of the waste-gate opening and an exhaust gas mass flow-rate. The controller also determines a turbine inlet pressure in response to the detected turbine outlet pressure and the turbine inlet temperature, and the determined waste-gate opening effective area and the exhaust gas mass flow-rate. The controller additionally regulates a supply of fuel to the cylinder corresponding to the pressurized airflow affected by the determined turbine inlet pressure.

  • Patent number: 10253671
Abstract: A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of heat exchange segments juxtaposed in a housing, and a plug member connected fluid-tightly to the housing, and supporting the heat exchange segments to provide a coolant or cooling medium passage in each gap between the heat exchange segments adjacent to each other. Each heat exchange segment comprises a case having an opening only on a surface of the case, at least outside of the opening being plugged fluid-tightly by the plug member, and a guide member, e.g., fin accommodated in the case, and provided with a plurality of passages allowing only gas flow in a predetermined direction, and gas intake passages and gas exhaust passages at the upstream and downstream thereof, wherein an opening of the case is provided with a gas inlet port communicated with the gas intake passage, and a gas outlet port communicated with the gas exhaust passages.
