Abstract: A process for producing polymeric film substantially free of draw resonance under conditions and at rates which would otherwise cause draw resonance in polymeric film susceptible to draw resonance wherein a fluid medium is directed against the moving film at a location between the extrusion die and the film take-up zone.

Abstract: A profile for use in the manufacture of frames for windows and the like comprises a core (1) of generally rectangular cross section of laminated plywood or cement-bonded fibrous material with a cladding (3) of plastics material, for example polyvinylchloride or polycarbonate, extruded therearound. The extruded cladding (3) provides, extending along the length of the profile, a glass (or other) panel retaining member (9) which is inclined inwardly (preferably at 45.degree. or substantially so) over a surface of the profile, and an undercut rib 11 spaced from the member (9). In manufacturing frames from the profile the latter is cut into appropriate lengths by saw cuts (31-39) extending at 45.degree.
Abstract: A pretreatment process to remove entrapped air from liquid polyester blends intended as the matrix of cast marble is disclosed. The formulated blend is subjected to a simultaneous evacuating, vibrating and shearing step which is critical within broad parameters. The thus treated blend, after casting, will be non-porous in cross section, thereby making it suitable for countertops and other parts which must be field cut to specifications.
Abstract: A process for forming a blown film from a thermoplastic resin wherein a source of cooling air is induced to flow from the atmosphere in contact with another source of pressurized cooling air whereby increased production rates can be obtained.
