  • Patent number: 8504072
Abstract: A radio communication terminal, a radio communication base station device, and radio communication method enabling lightening the paging load in a mobile communication system including macro cells and femto cells. A reception level measuring section (144) of a UE (104) measures the reception level of a femto cell. If a judging section (146) judges that the measured reception level is over a level which is the sum of a threshold and an offset value, the judging section (146) requests an MME (101) to change a multi TA registration to a single TA registration and carries out a change to one tracking area registration.

  • Patent number: 8503396
Abstract: To enable a network apparatus to detect L3 roaming users and to take appropriate forwarding actions, L3 knowledge is introduced inside an L2 bridge forwarding table in the network apparatus. As a client moves from a subnet associated with a first network element to a subnet associated with the network apparatus, a determination is made regarding whether the client is roaming by evaluating a source IP address within a L3 packet header within a first frame received at the network apparatus. If, as a result of the evaluating step, it is determined that the client is roaming, the L2 bridge forwarding table is configured to include a source MAC address of the client together with information identifying a destination interface for use in directing client data traffic back towards the subnet associated with the first network element.

  • Patent number: 8504022
Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for identifying areas of outbound roaming on a wireless network are disclosed. A roaming-network event record listing roaming events of subscribers of a home network is received. A home-network event record listing network events on a home network is also received. The two records are correlated to identify roaming events and network events having matching caller identifiers and time stamps within a predetermined range. Location data of a network event is adopted as location data for a matching roaming event. A home-network wireless-communications antenna, tower, or station having a service area in which a concentration of roaming events have occurred is identified. The distance of the roaming events from the antenna is determined and distance bands corresponding to that distance are plotted on a map to aid in identifying locations at which outbound roaming has occurred.

  • Patent number: 8494521
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a system for processing registration backup data are disclosed. A Serving Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF) receives a request from a User Equipment (UE) and judges whether the request carries multi-registration information so as to decide whether to add multi-registration indication information into a Server Assignment Request (SAR) message sent to a Home Subscriber Server (HSS). The HSS performs operations according to whether the SAR message carries the multi-registration indication information, therefore avoiding unnecessary signaling interactions, reducing the signaling load, avoiding unnecessary data processing between the HSS and the S-CSCF, and saving system resources.

  • Patent number: 8472931
Abstract: Methods and Systems for managing one or more communications devices associated with a user of a communications network are disclosed. The methods and systems are capable of receiving an indication regarding wireless communications between a first device and a second device. This indication may indicate that the first device has entered or left a vicinity (or range) of a second device. Additionally, this may be accomplished by using a protocol such as Bluetooth protocol, the IEEE 802.11(b) protocol, and/or the IEEE 802.11(g) protocol. For example, in an embodiment, if a first device (e.g., a Bluetooth-enabled wireless phone) enters the vicinity of a second device (e.g., a Bluetooth-enabled user computer), calls for the user may be automatically forwarded to a phone of the user that is located near the second device. Likewise, in an embodiment, if the first device (e.g., a Bluetooth-enabled wireless phone) leaves the vicinity of the second device (e.g.

  • Patent number: 8364166
Abstract: A position location system, apparatus and method are disclosed. A coordinating device identifies a group of wireless devices for position location processing. The number of wireless devices in the group may vary according to the number of coordinates used to define a position within the system. The coordinating device obtains range measurements from which a distance between each pair of wireless devices in the group can be determined. In addition, the coordinating device acquires the known position of one wireless device in the group. Using this information, a position is determined for one or more devices in the group for which position data is not available. Optionally, the position data is validated by the coordinating device or another wireless device in the system and a final position is returned to the one or more wireless devices.
