Abstract: A combinatorial weighing system for combinatorially weighing articles by obtaining an optimum combination of weight values produced by a plurality of weighing machines each of which contains a supply of the articles. The system includes a circuit for detecting a malfunction in any of the weighing machines, and a circuit for excluding weighing machines, detected as having malfunctioned, from participation in combinatorial weighing, and for executing combinatorial weighing using weighing machines other than the excluded weighing machine. When the number of excluded weighing machines exceeds a predetermined number, however, the weighing operation is halted. Even if several of the weighing machines malfunction, therefore, operation is allowed to continue, without terminating the overall weighing operation.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an enclosed system for weighing with vibrator-operated dosing means and enclosed balance (12). Between the dosing means and the balance (12) is an oil lock (6). The vibrator is entirely enclosed in a non-magnetic, sealed, metal casing (14). The weighing system is equipped with a microprocessor to enable weighing to be set in accordance with a recipe and optimization.
Abstract: In a method for forming an image, a liquid crystal shutter array or matrix is positioned between a photosensitive material and a light source, and light emitted by the light source to the photosensitive material is controlled by driving each liquid crystal shutter portion constituting a picture element of the liquid crystal shutter array or matrix. Drive of the liquid crystal shutter portion is controlled by using the driving pulses having a pulse width shorter than the response time of the liquid crystal and by changing the pulse width or the number of the driving pulses in accordance with an image signal. The photosensitive material is of the type which can express a half tone. When the liquid crystal shutter array or matrix which intercepts light upon application of a voltage is used, the driving pulses are applied prior to exposure to intercept light.
Abstract: An improved combined weighing apparatus is provided for weighing vegetables and fruits, confectionary articles, secondary products, perishables and other articles having high variations in single weight with high accuracy to produce packages having a predetermined weight. System for measurement of feeded products and for combination of weights which is equal or most approximate to the target value are improved in a way to eliminate the dead time of combining operation during weighing time for increasing the speed of combining operation while maintaining high accuracy.
Abstract: A self-operating automatic control system and process is provided to automatically measure the gross weight, load, and length of trucks, such as at refineries, truck terminals, and depots. A central processing unit compares the truck's weight and length with state highway regulations and activates a laser printer or another printer to print a bill of lading when the measured weight is within legal limits. The system and process can also have various safety and weight indicators as well as a regulated control dispenser coupled to the central processing unit to automatically and remotely dispense authorized legal amounts of the load of material, such as gasoline or oil, into the trucks.

Abstract: A tray secureable to the platform of a normally portable scales. The tray has a load receiving area substantially larger than the load receiving area of the platform. Also provided is an auxiliary base for stabilizing the scales when the greater load is received thereon. Attachment means are provided for securing the auxiliary base to the normal body supporting base of the scales. In another embodiment, the tray includes a generally planar central section having an upturned edge section extending from each of longitudinal edges. The tray may also include positioning means for receiving and centering a container for holding a quantity of fluent material. Further provided by the instant invention is a basket especially adapted for holding a quantity of relatively lightweight, yet bulky, material. The basket, in accordance with an embodiment thereof, includes a top surface for supporting the material, a bottom surface receivable upon the scales, a pair of spaced apart upstanding sides and handle means.
Abstract: A low profile platform scale includes a generally rectangular peripheral base support frame formed of channel members with a plurality of load cells mounted adjacent the corners of the base frame and including support arms from which is suspended a load support platform frame that has a generally rectangular configuration confined within the base frame and including arms extending within the channel of the support member and connected to suspend from the load arms of the load cells by flexible suspension cable structures extending through the base frame structure. Adjustment for range of the scale is provided in the form of alternate suspension positions on the load arms of the load cells.
Abstract: A scale plate with one or more load cell structures formed integrally therewith. Each load cell includes a flexure beam with strain sensing means mounted thereon and a fixed end merging with the plate. A support member has a free end and another end that is fixed to and merges with the other end of the beam. The load is applied between the plate and the support member. The support member permits the point of load application to be selected for improved output response of the load cell. A second flexure beam may be provided to counter any torsion effects on the first mentioned beam. The beam and support member are formed by cutting slots in the scale plate.
Abstract: A weight scale in particular a bath room scale contains strain gauges. To make the scale of simple design while being reliable and precise a single bar has at its ends a load receiving plate and support base. At least two strain gauges are fastened to the bar and are sensitive to bending of the bar. At least one another strain gauge is fastened to the bar, this being sensitive to twisting of the bar.
