  • Patent number: 9851527
Abstract: In various embodiments light redirection device positions of one or more optical chains are moved between image capture times while the position of the camera device including the multiple optical chains remains fixed. The sequentially captured images are combined to form a larger image than is captured during a single time period. Multiple optical chains are used in parallel, each with its own image sensor and light redirection device, in some embodiments. Depth information may and in some embodiments is generated and used to combine the images in a manner intended to minimize or avoid parallax distortions in the composite image which is produced.

  • Patent number: 9848129
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a system that can incorporate information into captured images. The system includes a first encoder that can process image information captured from an image component and a second encoder that can process information collected from a sensor. The system further includes a synthesizer to combine the outputs from both the first encoder and the second encoder. The synthesizer can then generate an output and transmit it to a decoder, which decodes the generated output and then transmits the decoded output to a display. The display then visually presents the decoded output to a user. By this arrangement, the system enables a user to view information collected by the sensor and the captured image at the same time.

  • Patent number: 9848103
Abstract: Methods and associated systems for generating images with objects of interests positioned at pre-determined locations and in specific orientations (e.g., vertical to the horizon) are disclosed. The method includes generating a preview image by an image component and identifying an object of interest in the preview image. The system then determines a desirable view angle at least based on an orientation of the object of interest. The system generates an original image and a current dip angle based on a measurement performed by a tilt sensor. The system calculates an angle of rotation based on the current dip angle and the desirable view angle. The system then edits or adjusts the original image to form an edited or adjusted image that can be presented to a user.

  • Patent number: 9832448
Abstract: Using the techniques discussed herein, a set of images is captured by one or more array imagers (106). Each array imager includes multiple imagers configured in various manners. Each array imager captures multiple images of substantially a same scene at substantially a same time. The images captured by each array image are encoded by multiple processors (112, 114). Each processor can encode sets of images captured by a different array imager, or each processor can encode different sets of images captured by the same array imager. The encoding of the images is performed using various image-compression techniques so that the information that results from the encoding is smaller, in terms of storage size, than the uncompressed images.

  • Patent number: 9810917
Abstract: Passive dampers (e.g., a viscoelastic material such as a silicon gel) may be applied at one or more locations within an actuator module between a moving component (an optics assembly) and a fixed component (e.g., a cover attached to a base). The passive dampers act to passively dampen the motion of the optics assembly on the XY plane within the actuator module during optical image stabilization (OIS) of the optics assembly when subjected to external excitation or disturbance, and may also provide Z (optical) axis damping and impact protection. Process control and automation manufacturing and assembly methods for an OIS voice coil motor (VCM) actuator module including passive dampers are described, as well as design elements that provide for the integrity and reliability of the passive dampers over the life cycle of the actuator module.
