  • Patent number: 9407993
Abstract: A latency reduction system in a virtual bass processing system performs harmonic transposition on low frequency components of an audio signal to generate transposed data indicative of harmonics of the audio signal. The system uses a base transposition factor greater than two, and generates the harmonics in response to frequency-domain values determined by forward and inverse transform stages that use asymmetric analysis and synthesis windows. The system combines a virtual bass signal with the delayed wide band audio signal through analysis filter banks having filter coefficient truncated Nyquist filters. The virtual bass signal may lag the delayed wide band audio signal when combining with the audio signal to further reduce the latency caused by the harmonic transposition. The virtual bass input signal may be directly routed from a CQMF analysis filter bank of a preceding Hybrid filter bank stage, in order to avoid the delay associated with a Nyquist filter bank.

  • Patent number: 9385676
Abstract: A system and method for dynamically mixing audio signals may calculate a signal amplitude for each of two or more audio signals. The signal amplitude may be the absolute value of the audio signal. A signal sum may be calculated using each of the two or more signal amplitudes. Each of the two or more signal amplitudes may be smoothed. The signal sum may be smoothed. The smoothing may be a filter or a leaky integrator. A respective mixing gain may be calculated for each of the two or more audio signals using a respective ratio of each of the two or more smoothed signal amplitudes and the smoothed signal sum. Each of the two or more audio signals may be gain adjusted responsive to the respective mixing gain. Each of the two or more gain adjusted audio signals may be mixed to create an output signal.

  • Patent number: 9386389
Abstract: An audio signal processing device receives a plurality of audio signals via a left channel (L) and a right channel (R) so as to produce a composite signal L+R and a difference signal L?R. The composite signal L+R is changed in phase with an all-pass filter, while the difference signal L?R is changed in phase and frequency characteristic with a band-pass filter (e.g. a center frequency of 1 kHz). The band-pass filter has a gently curved frequency characteristic achieving a broad passing band. Additionally, a phase difference of 90 degrees is maintained between the all-pass filter and the band-pass filter over the entire audio frequency range. The composite signal and the difference signal are adjusted in their levels and then mixed together to produce a monaural signal achieving an audio surround effect for widely propagating sound into the surrounding space without degrading sound quality.

  • Patent number: 9380369
Abstract: A microphone includes elements to protect against overpressure, such as from sudden physical shock. A cavity between ambient atmosphere and the microphone diaphragm includes a movable seal, which blocks overpressure from reaching the diaphragm when closed, and allows ordinary pressure to reach the diaphragm when open. The cavity can also have an entrance from ambient atmosphere offset from an exit to the diaphragm, and can include a valve which vents overpressure, or balloons in response to overpressure, so that overpressure does not directly reach the diaphragm. The seal or valve can be kept open or kept closed, and moved between states in response to whether the microphone should be in use or protected.
