Abstract: Monolayer and multilayer non-oriented polyester films comprising of at least one layer of an amorphous heat-sealing polyester wherein the heat-sealing polyester consisting essentially of terephthalic acid, ethylene glycol, and about 7-15 mol % cyclohexanedimethanol. The heat-sealing polyester has a heat of fusion greater than 0.5 cal/g and is sufficiently crystallizable to allow the drying of mixtures of the heat-sealing polyesters with other crystallizable polyesters without sticking. Multilayered films also contain a layer of an amorphous crystallizable polyethylene terephthalate.

Abstract: The present invention provides a metal thin film magnetic recording medium in which an underlying Cr layer, a magnetic recording layer and a protection layer are laminated in this order on a non-magnetic medium substrate. The medium substrate comprises an NiPX layer laminated in this order on a non-metallic base plate such as a glass base plate or a carbon base plate. X is one or mope elements belonging to a group of 4, 5 and 6 in a periodic table, and the content X is less than 20 at % in total. A heat accumulating non-magnetic layer having excellent heat conductivity may be formed on the non-metallic base plate and laminated between the NiPX layer thereon.

Abstract: Non-magnetic ferrite composition used in the composite multilayer part of the invention is based on ferrite containing Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and CuO and/or ZnO and further contains 1 to 30% by weight of four oxide components of MgO, BaO, SiO.sub.2, and B.sub.2 O.sub.3 or five or six oxide components including the four oxide components plus at least one of SnO.sub.2 and CaO. Since the use of this non-magnetic ferrite minimizes the difference in coefficient of linear expansion between different materials used, the non-magnetic ferrite, when applied to composite multilayer parts such as shielded multilayer chip inductors, shielded multilayer transformers, and multilayer LC composite parts, prevents occurrence of cracks in the interior and avoids a lowering of circuit resistance due to precipitation of CuO, ZnO or the like at the interface between different materials. There result composite multilayer parts with improved characteristics.
Abstract: To improve the sliding characteristics of a magnetic head by reducing a friction coefficient, and realize a magnetic recording medium with a high recording density and a large capacity, capable of reducing the flotation distance of the magnetic head. On the surface of a base, aluminum containing nitrogen aggregates locally to form islands of metal deposits, which are distributed discretely over the entire surface of the base. Meanwhile, on the metal deposits, a metal base layer, a magnetic layer, a protective layer, and a lubrication layer are laminated sequentially to form a magnetic recording disk. On the disk surface, ultrafine irregularities are formed that reflect the shapes of the metal deposits, thereby realizing a reduction in the friction coefficient.

Abstract: A discontinuous flash chrome interlayer of about 5 to 25 .ANG. is incorporated between the upper and lower magnetic recording alloy layers. This flash non-magnetic separation layer is so thin that it is, in fact, a discontinuous layer, so that while the benefits of having some chrome flashed on the surface of the first portion of the magnetic recording alloy are achieved, yet the upper and lower magnetic recording alloy layers are not completely physically separated as they are in disks made according to known sputtering processes.
