  • Patent number: 11589183
Abstract: During an initialization of a head pose tracker for a spatial audio system, a spatial audio ambience bed is rotated about a boresight vector to align the boresight vector with a center channel of the ambience bed. The boresight is computed using source device motion data and headset motion data. The ambience bed includes the center channel and one or more other channels. An ambience bed reference frame is aligned with a horizontal plane of a headset reference frame, such that the ambience bed is horizontally level with a user's ears. A first estimated gravity direction is fixed (made constant) in the ambience bed reference frame. During head pose tracking, the ambience bed reference frame is rolled about the boresight vector to align a second estimated gravity direction in the headset reference frame with the first estimated gravity direction fixed in the ambience bed reference frame.

  • Patent number: 11575997
Abstract: An in-line filter uses scalar coils positioned in series with an input of a speaker to modify or enhance the audio quality and of the speaker, and its auditory effects on a user, by changing the sound signature and reducing digital noise. Scalar coils have two spiral windings with opposite winding directions. Scalar coils can also be used in series with a laser emitter that produces a laser beam that travels through the scalar coil, which produce electromagnetic forces that improve perceived audio quality in a user.

  • Patent number: 11568873
Abstract: Devices for preventing unintended conversation from being recorded by a voice activated assistant device/application (VAD) are disclosed. The device is contoured to fit over a functional surface of a VAD that typically includes a plurality of microphones and control buttons. The device covers the microphones and uses its own microphones to monitor for an authorization input signal. In an embodiment, the devices uses speakers aligned with and opposing each VAD microphone. The device emits interfering audible signals during this mode of operation. Once the device senses an authorization input, the device decouples its speakers from the interfering audible signal and instead allows the device microphones to pass through to the VAD. During this mode, the VAD is in normal operation.

  • Patent number: 11553295
Abstract: Estimating the field strength from an ultrasonic phased array can be done by summing the contribution of each transducer to the point of interest. Since this contribution is already calculated when creating a converging spherical wave, it can be reused to add a virtual microphone to the system. By monitoring this microphone and moving it along with new focus points, a robust system of field estimates and regulation may be established.

  • Patent number: 11546715
Abstract: Audiovisual presentations, such as film recordings, may have been originally created having an audio soundtrack with multiple audio tracks mixed for a surround sound system that includes a set of speakers physically surrounding a user. The present disclosure presents systems and methods to remix these soundtracks into 3D audio that when presented to the ears of a user can be perceived as a virtual surround sound system that mimics the physical system. What is more, the disclosed systems and methods can enhance the virtual surround sound system by adjusting virtual speakers of the virtual surround sound system according to video content of the audiovisual presentation. Further enhancement may be possible by adjusting the virtual speakers of the virtual surround sound system according to a sensed position of a user.

  • Patent number: 11533575
Abstract: Audio content coded for a reference speaker configuration is downmixed to downmix audio content coded for a specific speaker configuration. One or more gain adjustments are performed on individual portions of the downmix audio content coded for the specific speaker configuration. Loudness measurements are then performed on the individual portions of the downmix audio content. An audio signal that comprises the audio content coded for the reference speaker configuration and downmix loudness metadata is generated. The downmix loudness metadata is created based at least in part on the loudness measurements on the individual portions of the downmix audio content.
