Abstract: Detergent compositions were prepared which contain 1-10% of a fatty acid amide, in which the carbon is attached to a C.sub.15 -C.sub.17 hydrocarbon, and wherein one of the nitrogen substituents is a polyhydroxyhydrocarbyl having a linear hydrocarbon chain with at least three hydroxyl groups pendent therefrom. Said compositions further comprise 1-6% by weight of an insoluble ethoxylated C.sub.12 -C.sub.15 primary alcohol containing an average of three ethoxylate groups per mole.
Abstract: Fabric softening actives having hydrophobic moieties containing, preferably, ester, or amide, linkages and mixed branched and unsaturated hydrophobic groups provide improved processing and stability as well as surprisingly good softening. Preferred compositions contain mono-ol and diol principal solvents having a ClogP of from about 0.15 to about 0.64, that have the ability to make clear aqueous fabric softener compositions containing relatively high concentrations of the said fabric softener actives having ester linkages in their long, hydrophobic chains. Other solvents may be present. Premixes of the fabric softening actives, the principal solvents, and, optionally, other solvents are useful in the preparation of complete formulations by obviating/limiting the need for heating. Other compositions can be prepared which are solid or dispersions of the said fabric softening actives.

The compound of Formula I wherein R1 and R2 are methyl and R3 is propyl is preferred. Compositions and a method of use employing same are disclosed.
Abstract: Stripping action of an alkaline paint stripper is improved when ammonia is partially or completely replaced with ammonium bicarbonate or chemical equivalent thereof which decomposes into ammonia and carbon dioxide. A benzyl alcohol solvent system containing at least ammonium bicarbonate is preferably a water-in-oil emulsion emulsified with oleic hydroxyethyl imidazoline and thickened with hydroxypropyl cellulose or hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. A mixture of ammonium carbamate and ammonium bicarbonate identified as ammonium carbonate is the preferred activator for this alkaline paint stripper. Improved stripping can also be provided by reacting ammonium bicarbonate and ammonia in situ within the water-in-oil emulsion.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for forming a hydrotrope which effectively reduces the likelihood of phase separation in a liquid cleaning composition and simultaneously enhancing its cleaning properties by combining an alkyl polyglycoside having the formula IR.sub.7 O(Z).sub.a (I)wherein R.sub.7 is a monovalent organic radical having from about 6 to about 30 carbon atoms; Z is saccharide residue having 5 or 6 carbon atoms; a is a number having a value from 1 to about 6 and an amphoteric surfactant, in a percent actives ratio of about 1:1.The amphoteric surfactants to be used are preferably selected from the group consisting of N-alkyl beta-alanines, amino betaines, amido betaines, imidazoline betaines, amino oxides, as well as mixtures thereof.
Abstract: Oil-in-water (O/W) cleansing emulsions having the appearance of a milk, comprising a self-emulsifiable composition based on fatty alcohols as emulsifying agent and an acrylic copolymer as gelling agent, useful for cleansing the skin of the face and/or of the body. These emulsions may be used in particular as a make-up removing milk.
Abstract: This invention relates to organic acid corrosion inhibitors for use in antifreeze coolant compositions. The corrosion inhibitors comprise a C.sub.8 mono-carboxylic acid component, or isomers and/or salts thereof, and a neo-decanoic acid, or isomers and/or salts thereof. The corrosion inhibitors of this invention provide improved corrosion protection to metal surfaces as compared to conventional inhibitors and provide surprisingly improved corrosion protection as compared to inhibitors containing only a single mono-carboxylic acid component.
