  • Patent number: 4902045
Abstract: A connector comprises a first coupling assembly comprising a first coupling member associated with an annular body from which extend a plurality of radially flexible fingers provided at their ends with engagement ribs engageable in grooves in a second coupling member to be abutted against the first coupling member. The fingers are held in their radially inner engaged position by a locking ring axially movable relative to the annular body between a locking position and an inoperative position. The locking ring may be associated a disengagement portion which, as the locking ring moves to its inoperative position, engages the ends of the fingers to move them radially outwardly to disengage the ribs from the grooves. The annular body may be axially movable relative to the first coupling member or fixed relative thereto.

  • Patent number: 4875718
Abstract: A swivel connector in the form of a ball and socket joint is used to connect flexible hoses that are used in a medical treatment, such as an oxygen hose, to prevent such hoses becoming kinked when an ambulant patient moves about. The connector can be formed of autoclavable material, and several such connectors can be included in one fluid system. The connector includes a ball member assembly and a socket member assembly, with a gland in the socket member assembly for engaging one of the hoses in a fluid-tight manner forming a fluid-tight chamber in the connector.

  • Patent number: 4869615
Abstract: An improved tension leg joint with a first or receptacle member having an opening to receive the second or tension leg member end, the first member opening includes an internal recess including an upper downwardly facing shoulder and a lower shoulder, the second member end includes a latching element carried on a lower upwardly facing shoulder of the second member and normally biased outward so that it moves into the internal recess of the first member when the second member end is inserted therein sufficiently far so that the latching element moves past the downwardly facing shoulder, and a release sleeve movable within the first member recess and having means for releasably engaging the latching element when it is moved into the interior of the release sleeve subsequent lifting of the second member and its latching element causes the release sleeve to be raised to engage the downwardly facing recess shoulder and allow the latching element to pass thereby in its upward movement without coming into latching e

  • Patent number: 4865362
Abstract: Flexible convoluted tubing is made of an elastomeric material in desired lengths in which one end has convolutions with a configuration different from the convolutions at the other end. This enables the ends of each length to be interlocked in order to form a continuous closed hose. Alternatively separate lengths of tubing can be joined by interlocking one end of each length of tubing to the dissimilar end of another length of tubing.

  • Patent number: 4865364
Abstract: A connector for connecting two pipes has threads configured to improve making up in severe motion conditions. The connector includes a pin and a box, each having frusto-conical surfaces with helical threads formed on them. The threads have multiple starts for rapid make up. The crest of each thread is truncated and is a frusto-conical surface. This frusto-conical surface is inverted to the frusto-conical surface of the portions of the pin and box that contain threads. Each thread has a load flank and a stabbing flank. The stabbing flank inclines and joins a link flank, which in turn joins a root. The link flank inclines at a different and steeper angle than the stabbing flank.

  • Patent number: 4854612
Abstract: A shaft connection (10) for rapid mounting and dismounting of a tire building drum by rotating a clamping ring (38) on a sleeve member (20) of a main shaft (14) around an end piece (24) of a drum shaft (12) positioned in the sleeve member (20) to engage or disengage overlapping lugs (42,44) on the clamping ring (38) and end piece (24). Screw members (56,58) connect the clamping ring (38) to a segmental ring (54) in a circumferential slot (68) in the sleeve member (20) for rotating the clamping ring (38). Resilient means (60) are associated with at least some of the screw members (56) and biasing the clamping ring (38) and outer lugs (42) against the inner lugs (44) of the end piece (24) to provide a tight fit between the sleeve member (20) and end piece (24). A central shaft (104) has a sliding connection 112' between a retractable inboard section (116) with a sliding connection (112') with an outboard section (114) for engagement after mounting of the sleeve member (20) over the end piece (24).

  • Patent number: 4846508
Abstract: A tubular connector system is disclosed for joining two pipe ends without the necessity of rotating the pipe ends. One pipe end is provided with an external thread and a second pipe end includes multiple thread lead entries. The tubular connector includes an internal thread at one end and internal multiple thread lead entries at the other end. The tubular connector is first threaded onto the first pipe. Next, the second pipe is stabbed into the second end of the tubular connector and the tubular connector is then rotated less than a single turn with respect to the second pipe to fully mate the tubular connector and the second pipe. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention the tubular connector is provided with resilient seals and a slot and tab arrangement to restrict rotation after make-up.
