  • Patent number: 6434445
Abstract: A printing apparatus comprises a real-time command detector that detects control commands without first storing the received comand data in memory. A host device can therefore cancel a cut-sheet waiting state of the printer even when the printing apparatus is stopped while waiting for a cut- sheet form to be inserted.

  • Patent number: 6434436
Abstract: Process for setting controller parameters (PA, K1 . . . Kn) of a state controller (SC) which, together with a plant (PL), forms a closed control circuit (C). The controller parameters (PA, K1 . . . Kn) are variable only in such manner that, in a representation of the poles (P1 . . . P5) of the closed control circuit (C) in a complex frequency range plane (FP, IM, RE), the setting of the controller parameters causes a shift of the poles (P1 . . . P5) approximately along semi-circular arcs (K) and/or origin rays (A1 . . . A3). It is advantageous that according to the process of the invention the setting of the controller parameters (PA, K1 . . . Kn) of the state controller (SC) can be performed by setting predetermined setting parameters that are, from a control-technological standpoint, easily understandable and recognizable. Such parameters are, for example, amplitude factor (&kgr;), rise time (&mgr;), or transient recovery time (t).

  • Patent number: 6424887
Abstract: A motor noise silencer reduces noise at a source, such as an unbalanced electromechanical motor. The silencer, in one embodiment, comprises a multi-layer shell and an integrated vibration-based cooling system. The shell has an inner layer, a middle sound and vibration absorbing layer, and an external layer. The middle layer offers a soft coupling between the outer and inner layers. Heat trapped within the silencer is channeled out by utilizing a vibratory motion of a source (i.e., motor) and motor support system. The silencer provides noise reduction while providing ventilation using vibration generated by the motor.

  • Patent number: 6425106
Abstract: A packet is originated in a unit 10 as a data field DATA 11 plus a CRC (cyclic redundancy check) check field CRC 12 by a CRC circuit 13. This packet has a header HDR (with a routing information field RIF) added to it in a unit 20, converting it into a message for transmission through a message network. A check correction field CCF is computed by unit 23 in unit 20, by looking up precomputed check subfields stored with the routing subfields (the routing information field being constructed by selecting from the stored subfields), such that the CRC field is a valid CRC check field for the complete message. At the destination, unit 30 can be the final user unit, checking the entire message and extracting the data field DATA therefrom; the DATA field does not need to be checked, as the CRC field acts as a check both for the data field DATA alone and the entire message.

  • Patent number: 6397112
Abstract: A method is provided for updating an array of data point cells in a surface or table representation of memory. The three-dimensional surface array is modeled as a square bordered by four cells with one cell at each corner. Between each array corner cell, the array spacing is typically divided into three zones. As such, nine sub-regions of the array square are defined. Depending upon which of the nine sub-regions the calculated error point falls into when accessing the array, different cells are updated. In the case of a two-dimensional table array, typically three sub-regions are defined between adjacent cells. Depending upon which sub-region the calculated error point falls into, one or both of the table array cells is updated. As a further feature of the present invention, the amount of adaptive gain applied to each cell to be updated is adjusted depending upon which sub-region the calculated error point falls within.

  • Patent number: 6393334
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automated interfacing with a processing tool in a manufacturing environment having a tilt mechanism and a rotation mechanism. In one embodiment, semiconductor wafers in a cassette are presented to a processing tool by tilting the cassette during movement towards the tool. The tilt mechanism provides a means for seating the wafers in the cassette. The rotation mechanism allows the cassette to be adjusted to meet a robotic arm which extracts wafers from the cassette. Where the cassette is part of a Standard Mechanical InterFace (SMIF) system, the pod is placed onto the interface apparatus, where the pod cover is removed to allow processing of the wafers. A bellows is provided to cover the exposed cassette, thus creating an extended mini-environment including the interface apparatus, tool, and pod cover. In one embodiment, the interface apparatus includes robotic arms and a lift mechanism.
