  • Patent number: 8055494
Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically reporting delay incurred in a model is disclosed. The delay may be incurred in a part or in an entire portion of the model. Delay incurred in each component of the model is determined and reported to users before executing the model. The delay of each component of the model may be determined based on intrinsic information of the component. If the intrinsic information of the component does not provide information on the delay of the component, the component may be simulated to determine the delay of the components. The model may be automatically compensated for the delay. The delay is reported prior to the execution of the model, and compensated for without executing the model.

  • Patent number: 8055482
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to integrate multiple engineering design systems in a computer aided design (CAD) system. A design generator is displayed and used to create an engineering design that has different worksheets. Each worksheet represents a different aspect of the design, has local design objects that represent functional aspects of a component that are independent from the component's physical representation, and relation objects that models constraints for properties of the design objects. The objects are organized into a functional layout document (FLD) that is stored in a data center/database that is shared by the worksheets. The FLD is then used to design an engineering design/model.

  • Patent number: 8046208
Abstract: A simulation apparatus and method is provided for simulating complex high speed interconnects for which closed forms of the S-parameter are incorporated. Differential transmission lines are represented in a causal manner analytically using the 4-port S-parameter without concerns of passivity and stability. Difficult discontinuities of interconnect such as differential vias are represented in closed form and the present invention allows those interconnects to be characterized by 4-port S-parameter measurements or simulation. A complete method of combining causal transmission line models with discontinuities in cascade is provided.

  • Patent number: 8036862
Abstract: A watermark is embossed into a model of a linear or surface shape, especially a non-uniform rational B-splines model. The model has a plurality of splines, the combination of which forms the shape. Control points are assigned to the splines such that a course of the respectively associated spline can be modified and thus be controlled by changing the position of the control points and/or weights of the control points. Nodes which are located in a section of the shape that is formed by the respectively associated spline are allocated to the splines. In order to change the shape (the modified curve runs through point Cmod) when a watermark is embossed into the model, the position of at least one control point is modified, the weight by which a control point affects the shape and thus influences at least one area of the shape is modified, and/or an additional control point is inserted into the model. At least one additional node is inserted into the model (new node at u=1.

  • Patent number: 8032349
Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of an automated, fast and efficient method of generating a customized compact model that represents a semiconductor device at the chip, wafer or multi-wafer level in a specific manufacturing environment. Specifically, measurement data is collected from a specific manufacturing environment and sorted by channel lengths. Then, an optimizer is used to generate customized modeling parameters based on the measurement data. The optimization processes is a multi-step process. First, a first set of modeling parameters is generated based on measurement data associated with a long channel length. Second, a second set of modeling parameters is generated based on the first set and on measurement data associated with a short channel length. Finally, the customized modeling parameters are generated based on both the first set and the second set. The customized modeling parameters are used to generate a customized compact device model representative of the specific manufacturing environment.

  • Patent number: 8032345
Abstract: Method for optimizing the development of an underground reservoir, wherein a geological model is updated using dynamic data and well tests. A reservoir model is constructed by performing a geological model scale change. Dynamic data are simulated from this reservoir model. Influence zones are identified within the geological model where the well tests induce a pressure variation during well testing. Well tests are then simulated for each influence zone. An objective function measuring the difference between the simulated data and the measured data is calculated. The geological model is then modified so as to reduce to the maximum the objective function using a geostatistical parametrizing technique. Finally, development of the underground reservoir is optimized by evaluating, by means of a flow simulator, the reservoir production for various production schemes. Application: notably oil reservoir development.
