The molded part is molded from a material containing a solid particle antifriction material and has 1 to 50 &mgr;m of ten points average surface roughness (Rz) on the surface of the molded part. Abstract: The invention relates to a laminate including a decorative layer, a first resin impregnated core layer, a radiation barrier layer and a second resin impregnated core layer. Abstract: A high temperature substrate having improved properties. The substrate is a polymer substrate having a glass transition temperature greater than about 120° C., and at least one first barrier stack adjacent to the polymer substrate. The barrier stack includes at least one first barrier layer and at least one first polymer layer. A method for making the high temperature substrate with improved properties is also disclosed.

Abstract: A photocatalytic titanium dioxide coating composition is described, which comprises (a) finely-divided titanium dioxide particles exhibiting photocatalytic activity, (b) particles of an inorganic compound other than titanium dioxide, or particles of an organic compound convertible to particles of an inorganic compound on firing, (c) a binder, and (d) a solvent. The articles of an inorganic compound have an average particle diameter larger than that of the finely divided titanium dioxide particles and falls within the range of about 0.1 &mgr;m to about 1.0 &mgr;m. The inorganic compound particles are substantially insoluble in the solvent. The amount of the inorganic compound particles is in the range of about 0.5% to about 7% by weight based on the weight of the finely divided titanium dioxide particles. By coating a surface of a substrate with the coating composition, a coating film exhibiting excellent photocatalytic activity and no interference color is formed.
Abstract: The present invention relates to multilayer laminates having controlled directional tearing in both the machine direction (MD) and the transverse direction (TD). It is desirable to have controlled tearing for use in connection with pouches or other packages having a reclose device. The laminate is made up of a biaxially oriented inner layer containing linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and having a tensile elongation to break of less than 200% in the MD and less than 150% in the TD, an outer layer having a heat distortion temperature of at least 10° C. higher than the inner layer and a tensile longation to break of less than 200% in the MD and less than 150% in the TD, and an adhesive layer containing an adhesive polymer sandwiched between the inner and outer layers and adhering the two layers to each other.
Abstract: A multilayer superlattice having a structure with many interfaces of magnetic/non-magnetic layers could increase the coercivity of a magnetic recording medium by increasing the interfacial anisotropy. A Si-containing seedlayer between a soft underlayer and the multilayer superlattice further boosts the coercivity of the magnetic recording medium.
Abstract: A polyimide/fluororesin laminate comprises a polyimide film and a fluororesin layer. The tear propagation resistance strength of the polyimide film after being exposed to 150° C. 100% RH environment for 12 hours is not less than 80% of the tear propagation resistance strength of the polyimide film before exposure. Particularly, the polyimide film contains at least one of Al, Si, Ti, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, Sn, Sb, Pb, and Bi. The laminate is useful for an insulating tape for wire-winding.
Abstract: The subject invention pertains to an aqueous primer for use on metal surfaces to which a composite or a metal adherend is bonded. The primer composition includes an aqueous dispersion of: (a) at least one thermosetting resin curable at an elevated temperature; (b) at least one organosilane, each said organosilane containing at least ore hydrolyzable group; and (c) a curing agent. The aqueous primer composition contains substantially no volatile organic solvent, is environmentally superior to solvent-based primers, is storage stable, exhibits excellent solvent resistance and performs without loss of physical properties.

Abstract: A printing plate is prepared by the method comprising: (a) providing a substrate; and (b) applying by ink jetting to the substrate a fluid composition comprising an acidic polymeric compound, in which the acid groups of the acidic polymeric compound are at least partially neutralized with base, providing a printing plate that is ready-to-use on a press without having to develop it. The printing plate of this invention is capable of extended press run length and advantageously avoids the need of chemical development.

Abstract: A block-resistant film is described which comprises a core layer of a thermoplastic polymer having a first side and a second side; a functional layer which is printable or sealable or treatable for printing or sealing is on the first side of the core layer, and a block-resistant layer is on the second side of the core layer. The block-resistant layer comprises a thermoplastic polymer and an amount of a polydialkylsiloxane, based upon the entire weight of the block-resistant layer, sufficient to inhibit blocking of the block-resistant layer to the functional layer when they are in contact. The surface of the block-resistant layer is flame treated or corona treated.
