Abstract: An electrical power generator for a wind turbine comprising: a generator housing, a stator at a radially outward position and a rotor in a radially inward position, wherein the rotor comprises a cylindrical ring structure arranged about a rotational axis, R, and defining a central hollow portion. The electrical power generator further comprises a rotor shroud attached to the generator housing and which extends about the rotational axis, R, wherein the rotor shroud includes a dome portion that extends into the central hollow portion of the rotor so as to protect the cylindrical ring structure of the rotor. Advantageously, the rotor shroud provides a tunnel-like surface that extends into the central hollow portion of the generator so as to prevent objects such as tools from contacting components of the rotor. The invention also relates to a method for 15 assembling such an electrical power generator with a rotor shroud.

  • Patent number: 11799359
Abstract: A system for generating electricity includes a bar and a source of a pressurized fluid. A three-way connection piece has an inlet opening connected to the source through an inlet solenoid valve and a discharge opening connected to a discharge solenoid valve. A connection line connects the three-way connection piece to a working cylinder. A shaft of the working cylinder strikes against the bar causing an oscillating motion. A first and a second rod convert the oscillating motion into a back-and-forth translational motion which a drive means converts into a cyclical drive motion. An apparatus for generating electrical energy is driven by the cyclical drive motion. During operation, the inlet solenoid valve and the discharge solenoid valve are continuously switched from a first working position to a second working position, and vice versa, at a frequency which is identical to the natural frequency of the bar.

  • Patent number: 11726436
Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling a power generating subsystem connected to a power generating system at a point of interconnection (POI). A subsystem controller receives a feedback first data signal corresponding to an electrical parameter for reactive power or power factor contributed by the power generating subsystem to the POI, the first data signal having a first signal fidelity. The subsystem controller receives a second data signal indicative of the electrical parameter measured at the power generating subsystem and having a second signal fidelity higher than the first signal fidelity. The subsystem controller generates a correlation value between the first and second data signals and applies the correlation value to modify a setpoint value for the electrical parameter at the POI. The subsystem controller uses the modified setpoint value and the second data signal to generate a setpoint command for the power generating subsystem.

  • Patent number: 11725626
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of controlling a wind turbine by automatic online selection of a controller that minimizes the wind turbine fatigue. The method therefore relies on an (offline constructed) database (BDD) of simulations of a list (LIST) of controllers, and on an online machine learning step for determining the optimal controller in terms of wind turbine (EOL) fatigue. Thus, the method allows automatic selection of controllers online, based on a fatigue criterion, and switching between the controllers according to the measured evolution of wind condition.
