  • Patent number: 6807457
Abstract: A method and system for the management of and assistance to weaving looms in the weaving premises includes, for each loom, a unit to control actuators, a set of operation sensors, and a logic a unit apt to correlate signals from the sensors with the control unit. The logic unit is connected, through communication elements, to a server of a service center common to various weaving premises. The server is interfaced to a client for the acquisition from and output to the weaving premises of loom data and for processing of diagnostic routines and of solutions to failures of the looms, and to database for the sorted storage of data and of diagnosis and solutions. The client is able to gain access into the database and compare data acquired from and output to the weaving premises to find solutions to the failures.

  • Patent number: 6805063
Abstract: In a method of pulling the free end of a needle thread from the top to the bottom of at least one work piece upon a first stitch of a seam that is to be sewn, use is made of a sewing machine with at least one presser which can be placed on, and lifted off, the work piece. The needle thread is held tight while a needle-thread loop is extended by the tip of the hook so that the free end is pulled through the work piece. While the needle thread is held tight, the presser is at least partially relieved. The relief time increases as the thickness of the work piece grows.

  • Patent number: 6802273
Abstract: A stitch balancing thread tension 11 of a sewing machine 1 includes a rotary disk 17 having a surface extending perpendicular to an axial direction of a shaft 16 on which the rotary disk 17 is mounted. The thread breakage detection device includes a permanent magnet member 21 attached to the surface of the rotary disk 17, a hole element 22 that detects a magnetic field generated at the permanent magnet member 21 and outputs detection signals, and a detection unit that detects the thread breakage based on the detection signals from the hole element 22. Because the thread breakage detection device is integrally formed to the stitch balancing thread tension 11, the thread breakage detection device can be provided to the sewing machine 1 without increasing a number of components and the size of the sewing machine 1.

  • Patent number: 6795975
Abstract: A method and apparatus for selective shielding of fabric antennas incorporates the fabric antenna into the body of wearable garments and provides protection for wearers of the garment while allowing wearers to displace a portion of the garment body selectively, so as to render the antenna active or inactive. To protect wearers of the garment from the RF field that may be generated when an antenna is in use, a metallic fabric shielding layer is positioned in the body of the garment between the antenna and the body of a wearer. Another layer of metallic shielding fabric mounted to a layer of protective fabric formed as a displaceable layer of the garment body. The disclosed embodiments of the invention show displaceable layers in the form of foldable cuffs on sleeves, epaulets, decorative pocket-like flaps, and faux seams.

  • Patent number: 6796254
Abstract: The order in which panels 13 are to be quilted, the amount of quilting-induced shrinkage, and the amount of crop between adjacent panels 13 are stored in a machine readable file 13 for use in operating a print line 10. Such information 13 is printed or otherwise placed on the material 11 at the print line 10 so as to be readable by a sensor 22 at a quilting station, where the information 13 is read and used to control the quilter 21. Panels 15 are quilted according to a schedule and in batches in the most efficient manner, and panels are cut according to information read from records on the material. Shrinkage is compensated for and appropriate crops are made between panels. The printing line prints series of panels on a web 11 in rolls 14 that can be fed, last-printed panel first, into the quilter.

  • Patent number: 6792329
Abstract: A computer-assisted process for the design and placement of multi-colored patterns on absorbent substrates using a limited number of transparent process colorants is described. Through use of this system, a designer, working with a computer-aided design system, can generate and accurately represent on a computer monitor or similar display a multi-colored pattern, as that pattern would appear on a specified absorbent substrate, using coloring elements comprised of groups of multiple pixels in which process colors have been mixed in a controlled manner to expand the range of available colors, and to compensate for colorant delivery limitations that prevent the application of small, accurately metered quantities of colorant. Actuation instructions for a specific dye injection machine capable of patterning a moving textile substrate may be generated.

  • Patent number: 6786163
Abstract: An automated sewing device for automatically sewing together rectilinear and curved end portions respectively of two base materials. A guide element is provided to separate the two base materials from each other and guide them in a sewing direction, and a guide roller mechanism is provided, which operates to adjustingly bring one guide roller to contact with the base material having the curved end portion and rotate the guide roller to move that base material in a direction orthogonal with the sewing direction, thereby keeping the rectilinear and curved end portions in alignment with each other. Hence, a seam is created along the curved end portion with a constant margin given between the seam and the curved contour of the curved end portion. A pair of guide rollers may be provided to move two curved end portions in a direction orthogonal with the sewing direction for the same alignment purpose.
