  • Patent number: 11228992
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatuses, and embodiments for transmitting time critical uplink (UL) control information (e.g., beam failure indication, buffer status report, and scheduling request) without first obtaining UL timing synchronization with a network. Therefore, UL communication latency may be reduced by removing the signaling overhead involved in performing a full random access procedure to obtain UL synchronization prior to UL transmission.

  • Patent number: 11229010
Abstract: A wireless communication device in a wireless network sets management information notification cycles at specified time intervals and transmits management information containing receive timing information showing its own position to start receiving information, receive window information, and receive cycle information. Another wireless communication device receiving that management information links it to a communication device number for the corresponding wireless communication device and stores the receive timing, the receive window information, and the receive cycle information. When seeding information, the receive start position of the corresponding communication device is found from the receive timing information, the receive window information, and the receive cycle information of the other, communication and information is then transmitted at that timing. An asynchronous ad-hoc communication wireless network can therefore be configured without a particular control station.

  • Patent number: 11223983
Abstract: Systems and methods related to automatic neighbor relation in a wireless communication network are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a User Equipment (UE) to assist a base station in a wireless communication network with automatic neighbor relation comprises receiving reference signal configurations for a plurality of cells and a measurement report triggering criterion. The reference signal configurations are configurations for reference signals to be used by the UE for Radio Resource Management (RRM) measurement reporting for the plurality of cells. The measurement report triggering criterion is related to detection, by the UE, of an unknown cell while performing measurements in accordance with the reference signal configurations for the plurality of cells, where an unknown cell is a cell other than the plurality of cells for which the UE has received the reference signal configurations. The method further comprises detecting an unknown cell and sending a report.

  • Patent number: 11190948
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing quasi-licensed spectrum allocation among two or more entities within a prescribed coverage or operational area. In one embodiment, the quasi-licensed spectrum utilizes 3.5 GHz CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) spectrum allocated between two or more Federal or commercial SASs (Spectrum Access Systems), for use by various service provider entities such as a managed content delivery network that includes one or more wireless access nodes (e.g., CBSDs). In one variant, each of two or more SAS entities generate both proposed allocations for themselves and other participating SAS entities with respect to available GAA spectrum, and differences between the proposed allocations are reconciled and condensed using a dynamic, iterative process to converge on a final allocation which fits the available GAA spectrum and which equitably distributes the spectrum between the participating SAS entities.

  • Patent number: 11184850
Abstract: A recipient electronic device that provides an acknowledgment is described. This recipient electronic device may include a main radio and a wake-up radio (WUR) that at least selectively transitions the main radio from a lower-power mode to a higher-power mode in response to a wake-up frame. During operation, the WUR receives a wake-up frame associated with an electronic device, e.g., a second or a sending device. Then, the WUR provides, in response to the wake-up frame, the acknowledgement intended for the electronic device. The wake-up frame may specify that an acknowledgement from the recipient electronic device to the electronic device is expected. For example, the wake-up frame may specify that the acknowledgement is communicated by the recipient electronic device using the WUR in the recipient electronic device. Moreover, the WUR may provide the acknowledgment while the main radio is in the lower-power mode.

  • Patent number: 11184081
Abstract: An interface circuit in a recipient electronic device (such as a cellular telephone) may provide preference-indication information for an electronic device (such as an access point). Notably, the recipient electronic device may compute preference-indication information associated with the recipient electronic device, where the preference-indication information indicates whether the recipient electronic device prefers that the electronic device use downlink (DL) multi-user (MU) MIMO transmissions when communicating with the recipient electronic device. Then, the recipient electronic device may provide the preference-indication information in a packet or a frame associated with the electronic device. In some embodiments, the recipient electronic device determines a trigger event (such as measuring a motion indication), and the computing may be selectively performed based at least in part on the trigger event.

  • Patent number: 11178566
Abstract: A Wi-Fi device in a WLAN network includes a processor and a transceiver adapted to be coupled to an antenna, and a power saving medium access in congested network environments algorithm that is activated after a Wi-Fi connection is established with its access point (AP). A Traffic Indication Map (TIM) bitmap in a TIM information element received in a beacon frame from the AP is analyzed to determine whether more than a predetermined number of bits (X) are set to indicate the AP has ?1 buffered frame for ones of the Wi-Fi devices to conclude whether the WLAN is in a congested environment. When in a congested environment, transmissions responsive to the beacon are postponed by entering a sleep mode for a random period of time (P). After P expires, the sleep mode is exited and a poll frame is transmitted to the AP to try to gain medium access.

  • Patent number: 11178577
Abstract: A method and system for controlling air-interface resources on a radio-frequency (RF) carrier on which an access node provides wireless communication service. While the access node is set to apply at least two resource-reservations (e.g., PRB-reservations) that are mutually exclusive on the carrier, a computing system detects that resource-availability on the carrier is threshold low. And in response to the detecting, the computing system causes the access node to combine together the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier The combining together of the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier retains the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier but results in a reduction in aggregate total quantity of air-interface resources consumed by the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier.

  • Patent number: 11146470
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for monitoring a wireless local area network (WLAN) to identify inoperative or degraded devices and restore network connectivity to end users. In one embodiment, the network includes one or more access points (APs) in data communication with a cable modem, which in turn communicates with managed network entities via a backhaul connection. Each AP is configured to provide connectivity to client devices, as well as monitor the operation of other network components including the cable modem, via logic indigenous to the AP, and invoke corrective action when failures or degraded performance is detected. In one variant, the logic operative to run on the AP includes both diagnostic and self-healing functionality, so as to enable at least partial automated diagnosis, localization, and recovery from faults, thereby obviating costly troubleshooting by the network operator or service personnel.

  • Patent number: 11147015
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communications are described. Stations operating within a system may have a primary radio and a wakeup or low-power radio. Access points (APs) may send indications receivable by the wakeup radio to alert a station of a pending data transmission for the station. APs may transmit synchronization beacons for wakeup radios of the stations, and the transmission timing for the synchronization beacons may be adapted based on operating conditions of one or more stations. For example, an AP may skip transmissions of a synchronization beacon or may adapt the frequency of synchronization beacon transmissions based on various operating conditions or factors. Stations may report certain information about operating conditions or capabilities that may be used to adapt synchronization beacon transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11139914
Abstract: A receiver blindly determines which parts of the soft buffer to flush by comparing the reception of a first transmission to the reception of a second transmission (i.e., a re-transmission of the first transmission). Any large differences between the first and second transmissions are identified as puncturing events. After identifying the location of the puncturing events, the receiver then evaluates different hypotheses about which one of the transmissions was punctured in the different events. For each of the hypotheses the receiver attempts to decode the received data and the receiver stops processing once decoding is successful or after the receiver has processed all of the hypotheses.
