  • Patent number: 10254893
Abstract: An image on an operating surface is captured, and first image data are acquired. A gesture performed by a user on the operating surface is recognized on the basis of the first image data. Whether there is a touch panel sensor configured to acquire coordinates of positions touched by an operation performed by a user on the operating surface or not is determined. In a case where the determination unit determines that there is the touch panel sensor on the operating surface, coordinates of the position on the operating surface touched by the operation performed by the user are identified on the basis of coordinates of a position detected by the touch panel sensor instead of a recognized user's gesture.

  • Patent number: 10230016
Abstract: Light-sensor array systems for capturing multiple-color images and light-fields using array of wavelength-selective optoelectronic elements (rather than wider-range photosensors prefaced with visible-band wavelength-selective optical elements such as color selective filters) as light-field or image sensors are presented. The light-sensor array can be one or more of transparent, bendable, and implemented on a curved surface. In some embodiments, the wavelength-selective light-sensing opto-electronic elements are arranged in a stacked array. In some embodiments, more than three wavelength-selective ranges can be employed in each light-sensing pixel. The invention can be used to implement one or more of a lensless imaging light-field camera, tactile gesture user interface, and/or proximate gesture user interface. In some embodiments, the light-sensor array system can be configured to emit light of one or more colors, and thus can additionally serve as an image display.

  • Patent number: 10217390
Abstract: A display device may include rows of pixels that may display image data on a display and a circuit. The circuit may perform a progressive scan across the rows of pixels to display the image data using a plurality of pixels, supply test data to a pixel of plurality of pixels that corresponds to a first row of the rows of pixels during one frame of the progressive scan, and initiate a sensing period for determining one or more sensitivity properties associated with the pixel based on the performance of the pixel with respect to the test data in response to receiving a pulse of a first global signal. The circuit may then end the sensing period in response to receiving a second global signal and resume the progressive scan across the rows of pixels to display the image data after the sensing period ends.

Abstract: Examples are disclosed herein that relate to capacitive touch sensor operation. An example provides a method for operating a display system having a capacitive touch sensor comprising operating the touch sensor over a plurality of successively repeating touch frames, with the touch sensor, determining a motion vector for an active stylus in relation to the touch sensor, and in each of the touch frames, for a stylus-interaction sub-frame of that touch frame allocated for performing electrostatic interaction between an active stylus and the touch sensor, selecting a portion of the touch sensor based on the motion vector. In each of the stylus-interaction sub-frames, the selected portion of the touch sensor may be operated differently than other portions of the touch sensor to carry out the electrostatic interaction.

  • Patent number: 10198991
Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for pre-processing image data for compression, e.g., image data that represents burn-in statistics for a display device. The techniques can involve receiving the image data, where the image data comprises a plurality of pixels, and each pixel of the plurality of pixels comprises at least two sub-pixel values. Next, each pixel of the plurality of pixels is quantized to produce a plurality of modified pixels. Subsequently, a series of operations are performed against each modified pixel of the plurality of modified pixels, including (1) applying an invertible transformation against the modified pixel, (2) applying a predictive coding against the modified pixel, and (3) applying an encoding of the modified pixel into a buffer as a data stream. The buffer is then compressed (as the modified pixels are serially encoded into the buffer) to produce compressed outputs that are joined together to produce a compressed image.
