Abstract: Systems and methods for performing approximated diffuse lighting are described. One of the methods includes receiving a position and orientation of a moving object in a frame, which includes a game space of a game. The method further includes receiving a first irradiance attribute imparted by a first light source to at least a portion of the moving object. The first irradiance attribute is generated based on the position and orientation. The method further includes receiving a second irradiance attribute imparted by a second light source to at least the portion of the moving object. The second irradiance attribute is generated based on the position and orientation. The method includes applying a statistical operation to the first irradiance attribute and the second irradiance attribute to generate a combined attribute and generating a rendered attribute for the moving object based on the combined attribute.

The present invention allows a user to strike quickly, repeatedly, and from a distance to repel would be attackers. The tensioning mechanism of the present invention allows the user to increase or decrease the flexibility of the striking portion of the tool based on the user's preferences. The present invention can be carried in a multitude of discreet locations, and is a non-lethal defensive option. The present invention could be utilized in other fields such as law enforcement, or military, where carrying hand-held, non-lethal, self-defense tools are necessary.

Abstract: In an aspect, an augmented reality game system is provided including a mobile smart device such as a smart phone and a remotely controlled drone. The mobile smart phone device is programmed to display an augmented environment, being the real environment viewed by the camera and a virtual environment superimposed over images of the real environment. The drone is controlled via commands transmitted wirelessly by the mobile smart device. The mobile smart device is programmed to execute a video game, which includes activities requiring a player to control the drone in relation to the augmented environment displayed on the mobile smart device video screen. The drone is powered by a rechargeable battery, and the video game includes activities that keep the player occupied with the game while the drone's rechargeable battery recharges.

Abstract: A system and method for collaborative scoring of a real-time sporting event is disclosed herein. The system includes a verification server and sources of content for a specific sporting event. The verification server is configured to receive digital communications from the sources, analyze each of the digital communications to verify that each of the communications is for the specific sporting event, determine a real-time score for the specific sporting event based on a collaboration of verified content from the digital communications, and post the score for the specific real-time sporting event.
