  • Patent number: 7403305
Abstract: A feature amount converting unit performs a color conversion of an input data. A history storage unit stores history information about a measurement of a color chart including conversion values of measured values of the color chart. An arithmetic unit compares the history information with new input information for measurement of the color chart, and determines the number of color patches based on a result of the comparison. A profile updating unit updates a printer profile based on a determined color chart data, and stores the printer profile in the history storage unit.

  • Patent number: 7400430
Abstract: A method, computer program product and system for detecting and compensating for color misregistration. A black/white edge or a solid color edge on a target may be scanned. A black/white edge may refer to a black image, e.g., black text, on a white surrounding background having a rapid spatial transition from black to white. A solid color edge may refer to a solid color image, e.g., solid color text, on a white surrounding background having a rapid spatial transition from color to white. A curve of gray values versus spatial pixel positions for each color channel, e.g., red, green and blue color channels, may be generated. A misregistration error may then be calculated by calculating the offset between the color channel curves. The misregistration error may then be used to calibrate the scanner to compensate for the detected color misregistration.

  • Patent number: 7388692
Abstract: A color image processing device includes an acquiring unit that acquires sample values of an original document at a prescribed cycle from a plurality of line sensors provided in parallel with a main scanning direction at a prescribed interval between one another, a storage unit having a capacity that stores the sample values for a prescribed number of samplings and a transferring unit that transfers relatively the original document and sampling positions of the line sensors. A correction unit corrects by carrying out a gap correction process for correcting a gap of the sampling positions of each of the line sensors in accordance with the sample values stored in the storage unit and an instructing unit instructs the transferring unit. In accordance with a rate of magnification for scanning the original document and the capacity of the storage unit, the instructing unit determines whether the gap correction process according to the rate of magnification can be carried out.

  • Patent number: 7375865
Abstract: Disclosed is a color-file communicating facsimile apparatus that is capable of communicating non-document image files through a simple method. A FIF (Facsimile Information Field) is provided with bits indicating that a color file to be transmitted is an sYCC JPEG-encoded file in which the concept of resolution is absent and bits specifying the sYCC full-color mode. If these bits have been set, a transmitting side sets resolution information and image-width information to any values and a receiving side ignores resolution information and image-width information in the FIF and performs print-out using information that has been obtained from header information of the received JPEG file. If these bits have not been set, ordinary transmission, reception and print processing are carried out.

  • Patent number: 7339896
Abstract: A system and method for measuring data transmission activity through a port of a switch device interconnecting nodes of a storage area network, the port transmitting data as words of predetermined length, one data word indicating idle port activity. The method includes steps of: counting a number of transmitted words received from the port in a first counter device; and, for each word counted, comparing that word with a predetermined word indicating no (idle) port transmission activity. In response to the comparing, a number of matches are counted in a second counter device. In this manner, a ratio of a number of counted matches with a total amount of words counted indicates available bandwidth for transmitting additional data over that link. Preferably, this value is communicated to a processor device for controlling bandwidth over the link.

  • Patent number: 7330426
Abstract: A method of performing Round Trip Time (RTT) measurement in a data packet receiver using a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) for communication via a network with a sender, said method comprising the steps of sending an acknowledgement for a currently received data packet to the sender, measuring a first time instant when sending the acknowledgement, triggering at the sender the transmission of an expected data-packet, measuring a second time instant when the expected data packet is received, and calculating the round-trip time based on the measured first and second time instants.

  • Patent number: 7324243
Abstract: A fluorescent color scanning method is disclosed to include the steps of: scanning a standard white to obtain a first reference white W1; reducing the scanning brightness and then scanning the standard white to obtain a second reference white W2; using the first reference white and second reference white to scan every scanning document and then storing the respective scanning results Pm and Qm; and comparing Qm to W2 so as to determine if the document contains a fluorescent color or not subject to: (i) determining that the document contains a fluorescent color if Qm>W2, and then converting Qm into the accurate color output Om; and (ii) determining that the document contains no fluorescent color if Qm?W2 and then using the value of Pm as the image output value.

  • Patent number: 7317727
Abstract: A method and system for managing asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) traffic in a computer system is disclosed. The computer system is used in sending, receiving, or sending and receiving a plurality of ATM flows. Each ATM flow has a plurality of ATM cells, a minimum ATM bandwidth guarantee, and a maximum ATM bandwidth. The method and system include determining whether excess bandwidth exists for the ATM flows. The method and system also include gracefully increasing a portion of the ATM cells transmitted for each ATM flow during periods of excess bandwidth. The portion of the ATM cells transmitted is not more than the maximum ATM bandwidth limit. If an ATM flow presents a sufficient offered load, the portion of the ATM cells transmitted in the flow is not less than a minimum ATM bandwidth guarantee.

  • Patent number: 7312815
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for color calibration for calibrating an input color. A target color represented by a first coordinate pair (X1, Y1). An input color, which is to be calibrated, is represented by a second coordinate pair (X2, Y2) and can be adjusted with a chrominance parameter Pb and a chrominance parameter Pr. The first coordinate pair (X1, Y1) and the second coordinate pair (X2, Y2) are compared to obtain a state. In response to the state, Pb and Pr are adjusted until the second coordinate pair is equal to the first coordinate pair. Therefore, the input color is calibrated to match the target color.
