  • Patent number: 7350479
Abstract: An “implant and forget” device for interacting with biota after a pre-established time period. Preferably, the biota are fauna and more particularly fish. In select embodiments, the device comprises packaging enclosing apparatus for timing interaction via opening the packaging. In select embodiments of the present invention, the device is a sealed capsule inserted in fish. Embodiments of the present invention are implanted in triploid grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) to facilitate control of aquatic weeds in bodies of water. When the carp have been in the water for a pre-established approximate period of time, toxins in the device are dispensed via long term bioerosion of the sealed opening in the packaging. Otherwise, the carp may destroy all vegetation and harm the aquatic environment for other aquatic life. Several alternative bioerodible seal configurations are provided as embodiments.

  • Patent number: 7338015
Abstract: A launch vehicle is deployed from an aircraft using gravity extraction of the launch vehicle with the aid of a small parachute which assists the extraction and damps the yaw and pitch of the launch vehicle. The launch vehicle is supported on two rows of tires which are rotatably mounted to the aircraft. Gravity and the drag force of the parachute causes the launch vehicle to roll on the tires along the load deck and out of the aircraft. Because the extraction forces are dominated by gravity, the launch vehicle acquires a rotation in the pitch axis as the launch vehicle leaves the aircraft. After the launch vehicle clears the aircraft, the launch vehicle rotates in the pitch plane, and is damped in the pitch plane by the parachute to a pitch attitude which is 70-80° and the vehicle engine is ignited, detaching the drag parachute.

  • Patent number: 7240455
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for repelling ants and other insects positions design flow of insulated DC current in design proximity to targeted areas (1), facilities, equipment and AC electrical devices occupied by or likely to be occupied by the ants and other insects. The apparatus includes a DC ant and insect repeller having an insulated electromagnet conductor wire (2) with electromagnetic windings (3) charged with predetermined flow of DC electricity. Charge of DC electricity is predetermined for causing cyclic heat of 140° F. from electrical resistance within a range of 50-to-90 ohms in the electromagnetic windings. A flow cycler (26) cycles current on-and-off to prevent the repeller from being a heater of a cold place or a heater in opposition to an air-conditioner or desirable weather temperature while also minimizing use of electricity for repelling the ants and other insects.

  • Patent number: 7225757
Abstract: A method of cleaning bedding sand soiled with animal manure removes the bedding sand from an animal bedding area. An aqueous slurry of the bedding sand is made. The slurry is subjected to cyclonic action so as to separate the sand from the manure. The separated sand is then respread back into the animal bedding area for reuse. The clean bedding sand is free of organic contaminants such as manure, urine and milk. In addition, the bedding sand may contain inorganic contaminants such as clay and silt particles as well as fine particles which are undesirable in a bedding material. Processing the sand removes these inorganic contaminants and fine particles to produce a superior bedding sand for animals.

  • Patent number: 7201116
Abstract: A foldable/collapsible structure that folds or collapses between a collapsed condition and an expanded condition. The structure includes a top and a bottom panel, and a pair of opposing sidewalls extending between the top and bottom panels. The opposing sidewalls each include a wall panel and an upper wall panel connected to one another by a hinge. Each of the wall panels and the upper wall portions has an external surface, and the hinged connection between the first and second wall panels allows the external surfaces of the respective all panels and upper wall portions to define an angle equal to or greater than 180 degrees. Upon collapse of the structure, the hinged connection between the wall panel and upper wall portion on one of the opposing walls maintains the external surfaces of the wall panel and upper wall portion at an angle equal to or greater than about 180 degrees.
