  • Patent number: 6473749
Abstract: A system for managing file content, such as Microsoft Powerpoint for Windows™ presentation slides, is provided. The system includes an upload interface that can receive files, such as a file containing slides, from an upload client. The upload interface can extract data structures, such as slides or images, from each file, and index data from each data structure. The system also includes an index system that is connected to the upload interface. The index system can receive the index data from the upload interface and store the index data. A content storage system connected to the upload interface and the index system can receive data structures for storage from the upload interface system, and can provide a storage address for locating each data structure to the index system. A download interface is connected to the content storage system, and can be used to identify data structures matching a query and to download the data structures to a download client.

  • Patent number: 6393425
Abstract: A facility automatically generates diagrams of system using a stored model of the system. For example, the facility employs a database storing a model of interconnected elements that represents a computer network system comprised of interconnected components. The facility receives user input as to what the user wishes to place in the diagram. By selecting a shape in the diagram and displaying options with respect to that shape, the facility queries the database and filters out only the elements logically connected to the selected shape. The user can then view such filtered elements to decide which elements to add to the figure. The facility then automatically adds shapes of such elements to the figure, with appropriate connections to the initial shape selected.

  • Patent number: 6292793
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of handling event recordings in a service database system. The database comprises measurement tables (MT) which include consecutive rows (Ri). A single row comprises data about a single measurement object. So that correct counter values can be recorded efficiently, the counters on the measurement table row have been duplicated, and in every recording interval the counter values of a given counter group on said row are incremented, and the counter values of another given counter group on said row are recorded according to a predefined rotation principle. In the system, measurement object-specific and measurement group-specific time stamps are maintained, on the basis of which it is tested whether the counter values are acceptable for recording.
