  • Patent number: 6703594
Abstract: A method for securing components of a vehicular driveshaft includes disposing a neck of an end fitting into the open end of a driveshaft tube. The end fitting is held with respect to the driveshaft tube so that an annular gap is formed between the neck and the driveshaft tube. An inductor is provided about the driveshaft tube adjacent the end receiving the neck. The inductor is energized to generate a magnetic field for collapsing the driveshaft tube about the neck at a high velocity so that the driveshaft tube and the end fitting are welded to each other.

  • Patent number: 6693263
Abstract: The invention provides a convection type brazing apparatus for metal workpieces such as aluminum, copper, iron and so forth that enables uniform heating of the metal workpieces to prevent deformation of the workpieces and can shorten a heating time to achieve a higher operation efficiency. A heating medium gas heated by a tube heater 36 in a thermal medium gas heating chamber 45 is forwarded by a fan 37 to manifolds 41A and 41B located on both left and right sides, to be blown through a multitude of nozzles 43 toward workpieces W to which a brazing material and flux have been applied in advance. Once the workpieces temperature has reached a predetermined temperature for brazing, a switching valve located in an upper duct 48 is activated so that the heating medium gas is intermittently blown to the workpieces. As a result, a temperature slope of the workpieces is minimized and uniform brazing can be performed.

  • Patent number: 6689995
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for heating a workpiece of an inductively heatable material, for example a turbine blade. Such a turbine blade consists of a massive blade base and a low-mass blade leaf. To enable the blade base and blade leaf to be heated in a manner appropriate to each an induction coil is provided, which surrounds the blade base and the blade leaf. By suitable choice of the alternating currents which flow through the induction coil and/or through the interposition of a susceptor between turbine blade and induction coil, the blade base and blade leaf can be heated in an appropriate manner.

  • Patent number: 6686575
Abstract: A microwave oven effectively and uniformly cooks large-sized food even though the food inhibits a proper rotation of a cooking tray in a cooking cavity of the microwave oven. An upper wave dispersing unit is provided at a top wall of the cooking cavity and primarily disperses microwaves from the top wall into the cooking cavity. A side wave dispersing unit is provided at a second sidewall of the cooking cavity opposite to a first sidewall of the cooking cavity. The first sidewall partitions the cooking cavity from a machine room of the microwave oven. The side wave dispersing unit secondarily disperses the primarily dispersed microwaves in the cooking cavity. The second sidewall of the cooking cavity has a recess which receives a fan of the side wave dispersing unit. A cover is installed in front of the recess to cover the fan of the side wave dispersing unit. The cover is made of a transparent material and allows a user to view a rotational operation of the side wave dispersing unit.

  • Patent number: 6686574
Abstract: A microwave oven includes two doors which primarily and secondarily prevent a leakage of microwaves from a cooking cavity during a cooking operation. A first door is rotatably hinged to a front wall of a cabinet of the microwave oven, so as to open and close an opening of the cooking cavity and primarily prevent the leakage of the microwaves from the cooking cavity. A second door is rotatably mounted to the cabinet in front of the first door to cover and uncover the front of the first door. The second door thus secondarily intercepts the microwaves which have leaked from the cooking cavity through a gap between the first door and the cabinet. The microwave oven effectively prevents almost all leakage of the microwaves from the cooking cavity during the cooking operation.
