Abstract: An approach is provided for providing a personalized virtual environment for a visitor of a service community. A comparison is made of identification information of the visitor with contact entries of a plurality of registered users of a service community. Additionally, an identification is made of content of one or more of the plurality of registered users having a contact entry that matches the identification information of the visitor to provide a personalized virtual environment of the visitor in the service community.

Abstract: An interactive, multi-user media delivery system having a number of media storage mediums, each of containing a particular media selection, and a number of media players structured to selectively deliver the media selection to users. Each of the media players includes a control assembly structured to selectively control and regulate delivery of the media selection to the user, and at least one of the media players is selectively designatable as a slave unit. A master control assembly is further provided and is operatively associated with the media players, a connectivity assembly being included to establish a communicative link at least between the slave unit(s) and the master control assembly. The master control assembly is further structured to receive synchronization data from each of the media players, and to simultaneously and uniformly control the delivery of the media selection by the media players.

A selection of preferred media files are accessed based on the present state and the previous state. A selection of a subset of media files are accessed based on the preferred media files. At least a portion of each media file in the subset is transmitted to the mobile device.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a secured electronic communication in a network that includes a verification station, a registration station, and a authentication station. At the registration station, a request for a digital certificate is received from a user. The registration station instructs the verification station to forward to the user a message associated with the request. The message is compared against the user at the authentication station to determine whether the message properly identifies the user. A first signal indicating the result of the comparison is sent to the verification station. If the first signal indicates that the message properly identifies the user, a second signal is sent to the registration station. Based on the second signal, the registration system then generates a digital certificate.

Abstract: When an automatic address assignment apparatus is operating in a network, another automatic address assignment apparatus stops the automatic address assignment service thereof. When a wireless LAN access point which functions as an automatic address assignment apparatus (DHCP server device) sends a DHCP discover message on the network and a DHCP offer message is returned as a response therefor, and when the address of the transmission source of the DHCP offer message does not match the IP address thereof, it is determined that another DHCP server exists on the network, and the DHCP server service of the former DHCP server is stopped. Thus, by avoiding contention with another DHCP server and by preventing confusion of the network, a wireless LAN access point suitable, in particular, for use in a small-scale office or a home network managed by an ordinary user having no knowledge of IP can be formed.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for computing modular inverses of odd input values modulo 2N (or modulo xN, for example in some Galois field) to perform a modular multiplication in cryptographic processing systems. In one embodiment an approximation is computed having 2k bits of the modular inverse of the odd input value without multiplications, for example using a binary extended Euclidean algorithm. A sequence of log2N?k Newton-Raphson or similarly quadratically convergent iterations are applied to the approximation using an extended precision multiplier to generate the modular inverse of the odd input value modulo 2N (or modulo xN), the modular inverse having up to N bits of precision. The modular inverse of the odd input value is then used in a modular multiplication to perform cryptographic operations and/or cyclic redundancy checks on communication data.

Abstract: Provided are a web-based traceback system and method using reverse caching proxy, which can effectively protect a web server against various attacks launched by illegitimate user by acquiring network information and location information of users who attempt to access the web server through an anonymous server, without a requirement of installing any agent program in the users' clients.

Abstract: To fortify trust in a roaming environment, a token is introduced in transactions between an authoritative entity (e.g., a Home AAA in RADIUS) and a service providing entity (e.g., a NAS in RADIUS). A Token-Information is sent from the authoritative entity to the service providing entity during the initial authentication. Subsequent transactions include a token computed from the Token-Information. The service providing entity discards messages that it receives that do not contain the correct token. The Token-Information is transported in an encrypted fashion. The token provides secure transactions when messages between the authoritative entity and the service providing entity are routed through proxy servers.

The method makes uses of the Trusted Computing principles to provide a secure, tamper detectable solution comprising of both software and hardware such that it can be verified without debate on its authenticity. The method comprises extracting reproduction avoidance key information and log information for captured data from stored information when verification of the captured data is requested, calculating reproduction avoidance key information using the extracted log information, comparing the extracted reproduction avoidance key information with the calculated reproduction avoidance key information and determining that the captured data has not been tampered, if the reproduction avoidance key informations are matched.

A destination device may then utilize the temporary key to decrypt and securely store the user data onto the destination device.
