  • Patent number: 10516461
Abstract: Devices and methods of beamforming are generally described. A UE transmits to an eNB a BRSRP report having selected BRSRP values and associated BRS IDs. An active link list, a CSI resource indication, and a first active link are used to measure the CSI resource and CSI feedback is sent. A serving link ID is provided to indicate a second active link to use for control and data reception. Rx beams are trained based on multiple instances of each BRS and the eNB supplies selection criteria for the BRSRP report. The Rx beams are refined based on BRRS and the second active link is dependent on BRRSRP or CSI feedback. When configured for dual beam operation, the BRSRP feedback corresponds to BRSRP value pairs and dual Rx beams associated with a pair of serving link IDs are used.

  • Patent number: 10505620
Abstract: In receiving radio waves from a transmitter by an array antenna, and estimating an arrival direction of a direct wave, delay times of the arriving waves are estimated (13) by means of a super-resolution process based on transmission channel estimation results, an arriving wave component corresponding to the delay time having been determined to be equal to or longer than a threshold value is removed (15) from the transmission channel estimation results, arriving wave components after the removal are separated from each other to extract direct wave components (17), and an arrival angle is estimated (19). The arrival direction of the direct wave can be accurately estimated in an environment where delayed waves of short delay times are present. Also, the amount of calculation is small even when the super-resolution process is performed.

  • Patent number: 10476535
Abstract: A high-frequency front end circuit includes a frequency fixed filter and frequency variable LC filters, and these are connected in series in a signal transmission path. The frequency fixed filter transmits high-frequency signals in a frequency band of a communication band and attenuates high-frequency signals outside the frequency band of the communication band. One of the frequency variable LC filters is an LC filter and attenuates unnecessary wave frequencies in the frequency band of the communication band. Another one of the frequency variable filters is a resonator filter that passes high-frequency signals in a frequency band of a selected channel and attenuates high-frequency signals in frequency bands of adjacent communication channels of the selected channel.

  • Patent number: 10469128
Abstract: Analog echo cancellation with Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) noise suppression may be provided. First, a test signal may be sent through an echo cancellation pathway during a downstream silence period and an upstream silence period. The echo cancellation pathway may comprise an electronic element. Next, a loopback response signal may be received in response to sending the test signal through the echo cancellation pathway. Then a channel response model may be created that characterizes a channel response of the loopback response signal and a non-linear model may be created that characterizes a non-linearity of the electronic element. Next, for a downstream signal, a non-linear component may be generated based on the created non-linear model. The generated non-linear component may be convolved with the created channel response model. The convolved non-linear component may then be subtracted from an upstream signal.

  • Patent number: 10461969
Abstract: In a PAM-N receiver, sampler reference levels, DC offset and AFE gain may be jointly adapted to achieve optimal or near-optimal boundaries for the symbol decisions of the PAM-N signal. For reference level adaptation, the hamming distances between two consecutive data samples and their in-between edge sample are evaluated. Reference levels for symbol decisions are adjusted accordingly such that on a data transition, an edge sample has on average, equal hamming distance to its adjacent data samples. DC offset may be compensated to ensure detectable data transitions for reference level adaptation. AFE gains may be jointly adapted with sampler reference levels such that the difference between a reference level and a pre-determined target voltage is minimized.

  • Patent number: 10454724
Abstract: Multipath filters are provided herein. In certain configurations, a multipath filter includes multiple filter paths or circuit branches that are electrically connected in parallel with one another between an input terminal and an output terminal. The input terminal receives an input signal, and each filter circuit branch includes a double-in double-switched (DIDS) downconverter that downconverts the input signal with two different clock signal phases to generate a downconverted signal. Each filter circuit branch further includes a filter network that generates a filtered signal by filtering the downconverted signal and an upconverter that upconverts the filtered signal to generate a branch output signal. Additionally, the branch output signals from the filter circuit branches are combined to generate an output signal at the output terminal.

  • Patent number: 10454519
Abstract: Forward error correction encoding is applied to a first stream of input bits associated with a first data layer to generate a first stream of coded bits. The first steam of coded bits is mapped to K1 binary streams. A first layer-specific set of stream-specific modulators are applied to the K1 binary streams to generate K1 independent complex-valued symbol streams. The symbol streams are transmitted using T1 resource elements out of N1 resource elements. The T1 resource elements are defined by a first layer-specific signature of length N1, where 1?T1<N1. The same process may also be carried out for a second stream of input bits associated with a second data layer using a second layer-specific set of stream-specific modulators and a second layer-specific signature, which may differ from the first layer-specific signature in terms of sparsity pattern and/or sparsity level.
