A hand pump may be connected to the filter unit and may provide air pressure to the upper chamber. The lower chamber may then be secured to the filter unit and the entire device inverted. Both gravity and air pressure created by the hand pump may be used to force the water through the filter unit so that the drinkable coffee enters the lower chamber.

An instruction is then provided for out to the temperature regulating device that, when received, causes the temperature regulating device to adjust the set point temperature of the temperature regulating device in accordance with the determined adjustment.

By means of the filter element, coffee extracted by pressure in the percolating unit can be filtered before dispensing the outflow so that suspended particles and emulsified oils of a specific size are separated from the coffee by the filter element and a new coffee is produced. In addition, the coffee machine can prepare standard pressure-extracted coffee since the coffee from the percolating unit can also be guided past the filter element, i.e. need not flow necessarily via the filter element to the outflow.
