Abstract: An online service and system are provided through which digital content publishers can package, protect, market and sell their content through on-line retailers, and through which on-line retailers can both build a unique inventory of digital content with all associated marketing metadata to sell through their on-line stores and seamlessly integrate the digital content into their on-line shopping cart. The system provides publishers with abstract fulfillment such that they only.
Abstract: Provided in embodiments of the present invention is a plurality of touchscreen arranged on a single monolithic structure of a multi-player gaming device. In one embodiment, a gaming device having a base structure and an upper structure arranged to define a layout of gaming stations each with a gaming display includes a substantially transparent monolithic substrate, an electrically conductive coating, and a protective layer. The monolithic substrate may be arranged over the upper structure to cover at least the plurality of gaming displays. The electrically conductive coating may be formed on the monolithic surface over at least the plurality of gaming displays such that conductive coating over each of the gaming displays is electrically isolated from the remainder of the conductive coating. The protective layer may be formed over the conductive coating and monolithic substrate and have a substantially planar surface.

Abstract: A game device receives from another game device through a network calculation data. The calculation data includes, at least, position data which represents a position of an object operated by using the other game device, and time data which represents time in which the object is at the position. The game device calculates, based on the position data and the time data included in the received calculation data, a calculated position of the object as of when the calculation data is received. Further, the game device determines, based on the calculated position, a position of the object in a game space as of when the calculation data is received.
Abstract: A method for coordinate generation to be implemented using an orientation device includes the steps of: providing at least three reference marks on a target; aiming the orientation device at an initial point on the target, and operating the orientation device such that the sensor is able to capture an image of the target that contains at least one of the reference marks; correlating a coordinate space of the orientation device with a coordinate space of the target; aiming the orientation device at a target point on the target, and operating the orientation device such that the sensor is able to capture an image of the target that contains the reference marks; and determining relative coordinates of the target point with reference to the established coordinate space relation and the captured image. An orientation device that performs the method is also disclosed.
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, apparatus and systems, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for authenticating data for playing a game of chance on a gaming machine. A motherboard is provided in the gaming machine. A peripheral component is in communication with the motherboard over a bus. The peripheral component has access to authentication code in a memory. An authentication instruction message is received over the bus. Responsive to receiving the authentication instruction message, the authentication code is executed on a processor to perform an authentication process on the data. A signal is output, indicating whether the authentication process is successful in authenticating the data. In one implementation, the signal enables play of the game of chance on the gaming machine when the authentication process is successful, and disables play of the game of chance when the authentication process is unsuccessful.

Abstract: A transaction device system is associated with a transaction device proxy account identifier, which may be stored in a database on the transaction device system and may be associated with a transaction account identifier for use in completing a transaction. The proxy transaction device identifier may include at least a first portion which corresponds to a portion of the transaction device identifier. The first portion of the proxy transaction device identifier may be segmented into proxy fields where a first segment includes a portion of a transaction account data set, and a second segment has encoded therein an account provider desired information. The proxy account identifier segments are undetectable by receiving systems such that the proxy account identifier emulates a merchant recognizable data transfer format. The account provider system uses the first portion of the transaction device identifier to reassemble the transaction device identifier for use in transaction completion.

Abstract: A formatted data structure is provided for conveying the results of ecommerce authentication programs that are used to authenticate a cardholder's on-line transactions. The data structure, which has at most a 20-byte length, is designed to be compatible with 3-D Secure message protocols used in e-commerce. The data structure includes designated fields that include a hash of the merchant's name, identify an authentication service provider, identify the authentication method used, and include a merchant authentication code which ties cardholder information to the transaction. Secure payment algorithms are provided for use by the e-commerce authentication programs to generate authentication results in the desired format. In one secure payment algorithm, a secret key is used to encrypt a concatenation of a cardholder account number with information from designated fields of the data structure.

Abstract: A method and system is described to facilitate variable pricing for electronically viewing content online. Consumers pay different amounts to view portions of electronically viewable content obtained from a tangible work, where the amount paid is based on a characteristic of the work (e.g., the genre or publisher), the consumer's past viewing behavior or purchases, including the portions of content (e.g., the number of pages or chapters) previously viewed from the same or other work, or the number or amount of purchases made of other works or products, or the aggregated viewing behavior or purchases of a number of consumers.

Abstract: A method of optimizing the performance of a networked mailing system having a plurality of metering systems includes determining in a first metering system that a cryptographic operation needs to be performed, and identifying a device coupled to the network that can perform the cryptographic operation faster than the first metering system. If a device has been so identified, the method further includes sending a request to the identified device to perform the cryptographic operation. If the request has been sent, the method includes receiving a response including processed data in the first metering system from the device. The processed data includes a result of the cryptographic operation being performed on the piece of data in question.
Abstract: The computer of a relay agency holds the money which a buyer pays for a commodity in a relay account. Then, the computer of the relay agency makes a payment transfer card and a notification card, and sends the notification card together with the request of purchase of the commodity to a seller. The relay agency sends the payment transfer card to the buyer. The buyer, after receiving the commodity, inserts the payment transfer card and the notification card into an automated teller machine of a bank, and gives instructions on the payment transaction to the computer of the relay agency. The computer of the relay agency transfers the money for the commodity from the relay account to the seller's account.
Abstract: The present method and system relates to processor-based valuations of an entity, such as a business, comprising a best value mode for iteratively generating optimized input elements and calculating an output data set from the optimized input elements that meet the conditions of the parties interested in the valuation, an interactive mode enabling a user to modify the input elements to determine how the modified elements affect the financial output of the valuation, and a module enabling the user to switch between the best value and interactive modes.
Abstract: In the case of modifying available copy count information which is contained in distribution data, the distribution data being distributed from a distribution server and stored in a PC which serves as a receiving device, the PC sends a reuse request to the distribution server. Thereafter, the PC receives a reuse information key from the distribution server so as to rewrite the available copy count of the distribution data based on the reuse information key, thereby making it possible to reuse the distribution data already distributed once.
Abstract: A method and system for generating and printing an indicium, such as a postal indicium, on an object such as a mail piece. A digital image of other printed material, such as an address block, on the object is obtained, and the image is processed to abstract characterizing information descriptive aspects of the other printed material. The aspects can be measurements of word lengths, counts of outliers in images of characters, or descriptions of the shape of the other printed material. The characterizing information is combined with other information, such as postal information, and the combined information is then cryptographically authenticated with a digital signature or the like. An indicium representative of the authenticated information is then printed on the object.
