  • Patent number: 4326631
Abstract: A rigid insulation assembly including a plurality of panels of rigid insulation fixed in edge-to-edge relationship on a top base sheet to form a continuous length of insulation material wound on a core member whereby the insulation may be readily handled and be quickly applied to a roof deck by unrolling the material. The core is of polygonal cross-section so as to define a plurality of faces about its periphery, and the panels in the innermost layer on the core are of substantially the same width as the faces with the panels in each successive layer outwardly from the innermost layer having progressively greater widths so that the joint lines between adjacent panels are located substantially on radial lines passing through the corner edges between the faces of the core.

  • Patent number: 4326366
Abstract: Each support plate is provided at its top surface with substantially cylindrical raised portions or protuberances, between which there is present in each case an intermediate space. The raised portions are arranged in rows extending parallel to one another. The raised portions of one row are offset with respect to the raised portions of both neighboring rows. Each of the raised portions have extending therethrough a recess oriented transversely with respect to the rows. Each of the recesses is in alignment with the intermediate space formed between two raised portions of the neighboring rows. The entire top surface of the support plate is covered with a metallic heat conducting layer. In the intermediate spaces and the recesses it is possible to lay, with a random course of extent or travel, the heating pipes or conduits.

  • Patent number: 4325205
Abstract: Solar building construction utilizing a rectangular shaped module, typically square, from which a corner has been cut-off or removed. The opening left in the module by the cut-off corner is panelled and closed in with glass. The module is oriented so that the glass panel, which may include sliding or hinged glass doors, faces in a direction that is exposed to the sun for a maximum number of hours during the colder winter months when the sun is relatively low in the sky. The sun's rays are allowed to deeply penetrate into the interior of the module through the use of open space and carefully positioned interior walls. At least some of these walls are typically perpendicular to the plane created by the glass panel. Both interior and exterior walls, and other fixtures within the modules, are realized using items having a favorable thermal mass.

  • Patent number: 4324074
Abstract: A building structure and method of making the same are disclosed wherein an inflatable form is inflated and an insulation layer of urethane foam is applied to the undersurface of the form. Hanger members are secured to the foam layer by adhesively affixing planar base portions of the hangers to the foam layer whereafter additional foam is applied to embed the hanger bases. Reinforcing mesh is secured to and supported by the hangers followed by the application of one or more layers of a cementitious material which is allowed to cure. Air pressure beneath the form is progressively increased to maintain a substantially constant uplift force on the foam. The inflatable form may be removed after curing and a protective coating applied to the outer exposed surface of urethane foam to protect it from ultraviolet degradation.

  • Patent number: 4323212
Abstract: A device for mounting an electrical device such as a hair drier comprises a tube 10, suspension means 11, 12 to suspend the tube from a support with the tube extending downwardly, an extendable electrical lead 14 for the hair drier, the lead being urged into the tube by biasing means 19. The lead can be drawn out of the tube against the action of the bias. There are means such as a hook 20 for releasably attaching the hair drier to the tube so that when the tube is suspended from a support and a hair drier is connected to the lead the hair drier can be unhooked and moved away from the tube when the hair drier is to be used, the lead 14 being drawn out of the tube, and when use of the hair drier is over it can be returned to a storage position by hooking it on to the tube again, the lead returning within the tube.

  • Patent number: 4321778
Abstract: The present invention relates to a glass pane whereby a broken pattern of white and black opaque material is applied to the surface or surfaces of the glass pane such that concentrated light from one side of the glass is reflected to such an extent that persons on that side of the glass may see the wall and may "read" the path of an object moving relative to said wall whilst persons disposed on the other side of said wall may see through the wall to a sufficient extent to also follow the path of said moving object. The glass panels of the present invention are particularly suitable for wall members for a squash, handball, racquet-ball or like court.
