Abstract: This invention provides herbal compositions useful for increasing the therapeutic index of chemotherapeutic compounds. This invention also provides methods useful for improving the quality of life of an individual undergoing chemotherapy. Furthermore, this invention improves the treatment of disease by increasing the therapeutic index of chemotherapy drugs by administering the herbal composition PHY906 to a mammal undergoing such chemotherapy.

Abstract: It is disclosed a skin clarifying complex comprising gallic acid and linoleic acid. It is further provided that the gallic acid can be obtained from Shinus sp and the linoleic acid can be obtained from passion flower oil. It is further disclosed the cosmetic or pharmaceutical use of the clarifying complex and a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprising 0.25 to 10%, by weight, of said clarifying complex. One of the examples described in the present invention comprises Forsythiae fructus, Menthae Herba, Gardeniae Fructus, Scutellariae Radix, Lophatheri Folium, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Rhei Rhizoma, Na2SO4, and Atractylodis Rhizoma. Abstract: The present invention provides a Chinese herb composition for the treatment of macular degeneration and its preparation method. The composition comprises Salviae miltiorrhizae, Chuanxiong rhizoma, Lycii fructus, Chrysanthemi flos, Schisandrae chinensis fructus, Imperatae rhizoma, and Scutellariae radix, where the number of units by weight are: 0.8-3.0 units of Salviae miltiorrhizae, 0.3-2.0 units of Chuanxiong rhizoma, 0.6-2.4 units of Lycii fructus, 0.5-2.0 units of Chrysanthemi flos, 0.2-1.2 units of Schisandrae chinensis fructus, 0.9-6.0 units of Imperatae rhizoma, and 0.5-2.0 units of Scutellariae radix. The preparation method includes taking concentrated powder of each ingredient according to the number of units prescribed and mixing them together. The Chinese herb composition, conveniently delivered orally or parenterally, has been clinically proven to be safe and effective for all types of macular degeneration regardless of wet or dry forms.
