  • Patent number: 4419038
Abstract: A foldable hoist assembly has an elongated column with a boom pivotally mounted at its outer end to be moveable from a stored position alongside the column to its operating position. A spindle with radial and thrust bearings in the support column base provides rotary support so that loads suspended from the bottom can be swung over and away from the load bed. The base of the support column is also pivotally mounted on a horizontal support structure affixed to the vehicle chassis, preferably in the position of a bumper below te rear edge of the load bed. With boom stored alongside, the support column is rotated from its upright operating position to be supported horizontally within the support structure leaving the load bed unobstructed.

  • Patent number: 4413942
Abstract: Disclosed is a lift-type car park for removably storing a plurality of wheeled motor vehicles. The lift platform has a telescoping transport device mounted thereon. The lift platform can be brought level with a transfer area and the telescoping transport device can be extended adjacent the wheels of the motor vehicle to be parked. Guide rollers can then be swung out from the telescoping transport device to movably engage the wheel such that when the telescopic transport device is retracted onto the platform the motor vehicle is pulled onto the lift platform as well. The lift platform can then be moved to any one of a number of storage locations and the reverse operation takes place in which the motor vehicle is placed in a storage space.

  • Patent number: 4382741
Abstract: A plant for storing single articles or objects, such as track links, designed to be introduced into a production line turning out the said links, at a point between two consecutive processing center, or units, forming part of the line. A number of special containers, each of which is designed to accommodate the links are formed by rows into `parcels` and are transferred thus along the line using conventional conveyors thereby permitting their optional withdrawal from and redeposition onto the line. An apparatus is designed to receive, hold and position each single full or empty container with respect to the relative conveyor in order to allow such loading or unloading. Loading or unloading of the single container is brought about by transferring the parcels of links into the container, the base of which is formed with parallel slots into which rollers of a conveyor may be introduced.

  • Patent number: 4363411
Abstract: A hammerhead type of crane has a structural tower with opposed structural cantilevers extending horizontally therefrom and there is a horizontal track along which a load carrying trolley may move through the tower between limits near the outer ends of the cantilevers and a second horizontal track along which a counterweight may travel at the same speed and distance but in the opposite direction and with the load trolley and counterweight passing each other as they move through the tower from one cantilever to the other. The counterweight is moved by means of a cable that has its opposite ends attached to the counterweight and which between its ends is wound about a reversible drum arranged to selectively move the counterweight in one direction or the other.

  • Patent number: 4363586
Abstract: A bunker discharge apparatus, especially for bulk material. The apparatus includes conveyor elements having a ladder form or shape and extending parallel to each other and movable back and forth, by way of a drive, in the conveying or feeding direction. The elements include rungs or crossbars arranged transverse to the conveying direction and wedge-shaped in cross section. The crossbars have a stroke or pusher surface at right angles in the conveyor direction to shear and push bulk material to discharge; counter to the conveying direction, the crossbars have a flat-inclined wedge surface which returns to starting location with minimum displacement of bulk material. A drop-out or discharge connection or connecting piece having a conveying element and arranged at right angles is provided below the ladder-formed conveying elements.

  • Patent number: 4355947
Abstract: A standard hook-type carriage assembly designed for lift truck use in the handling of palletized cargo is converted for use in the handling of concrete blocks by hooking block-handling forks on the carriage plate and positioning such forks on the carriage plate with predetermined lateral spacings between the forks by a removable elongated spacer bar to which all of the forks are attached. Lost-motion connections are made between the forks and the spacer bar and limited lengthwise movement of the spacer bar relative to the carriage plate is permitted so that the forks can float, relative to each other and in unison, laterally along the carriage plate. The forks can also move independently of each other through a limited vertical distance relative to the carriage plate.

  • Patent number: 4354608
Abstract: A motion compensation system for a crane hoist serves to assist the crane operator in safely lifting loads from the deck of a heaving work boat. The crane hook follows the motion of the load because a level of pre-tension is maintained on the line by use of a counterweight connected to the reeving system. A hydraulic cylinder connected to the counterweight provides for locking movement of the counterweight and also provides a cushion at both ends of its travel. Movement of the piston in the cylinder is controlled by a system including a check valve controlling flow between opposite ends of the cylinder which permits the reeving system to take up line. A limit switch responds to movement of the piston and counterweight near the top of their travel to actuate a light to warn the operator of a need to pay out line. As the piston and counterweight approach the bottom of their travel which indicates the load is moving upward, another limit switch actuates a light to indicate time to lift the load.
