  • Patent number: 4558386
Abstract: A head cleaner includes a generally flat, rectangular sheath 10 formed of flexible top and bottom walls 11 and 12 as is standard in floppy disk construction. The magnetic disk that would be within the sheath is replaced by a flat, absorbent member 17 which has an opening 18 such that it can be mounted on the hub of a disk drive. One of the walls of the sheath has an aperture 22 through which head 34 can extend and contact the absorbent member. A liquid solvent is applied in the aperture to the absorbent member to dissolve built up oxides on the head. The aperture is made wider than standard apertures for floppy disks, and there are additional apertures on other edges of the sheath for providing additional windows. Other windows may be through the other wall of the sheath such that there are eight total windows in the head cleaners. Therefore, the head cleaner can be inserted into the disk drive with any edge leading and with either wall on the head side of the drive.

  • Patent number: 4520415
Abstract: An operating lever apparatus used in an electric apparatus in which various modes are established in accordance with various electric signals produced by signal generating circuits, comprises a first base plate, a second base plate separated from the first base plate in parallel therewith, and a plurality of operating levers disposed between the first and second base plates and capable of moving between their respective first and second positions along the first and second base plates, said plurality of operating levers causing the signal generating circuits to produce the electric signals when independently located in their respective second positions.

  • Patent number: 4491890
Abstract: A device for positioning a magnetic head in a magnetic tape device includes a head carrier on which the head is mounted, a spiral gearing connected to the head carrier, and an operating device for rotation of the spiral gearing. The head carrier is disposed in a support system comprised of a first bearing rigidly disposed in the housing frame, a bearing plate adjustably attached to the frame and which can be positioned relative to a reference surface, and a second bearing disposed at the bearing plate.

  • Patent number: 4414592
Abstract: A coupler for a magnetic head includes a flat circumferential surface around the aperture in which the head is mounted and a circumferential orifice surface outside of and adjacent to the flat surface. The orifice surface forms a hydrodynamic orifice for control of flow of air over the flat circumferential surface to couple the magnetic medium to the magnetic head by the Bernoulli effect created by movement of air between the medium and the flat circumferential surface. The coupler protrudes through a flat Bernoulli plate against which the magnetic disk is rotated.
