Patent number: 4916581Abstract: Disclosed is a device for providing illumination on a helicoptor rotor blade. A chemiluminescent light source, including a translucent container and a chemiluminescent substance received therein, is attached to the outer end of a helicoptor rotor blade so that the helicoptor operator, or a remote observer, may be provided with a light marker indicating the outer circumference of the blade's rotational path.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1988Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Inventor: Ricky J. Authier

Patent number: 4901210Abstract: A device for use with a motorcycle helmet is disclosed which directs a safety light rearward from the lower back portion of the helmet. The light is removably mounted onto the helmet with a variety of mounting apparatus, each of which allows the light to be quickly and conveniently installed and removed from the helmet. The light, which is entirely self-contained, is mounted onto the helmet in a way allowing the light to detach itself during an accident to avoid inflicting serious head or neck injury on the rider due to the light becoming snagged during the accident.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1987Date of Patent: February 13, 1990Inventor: Akira Hanabusa

Patent number: 4892141Abstract: A fin is provided, wherein a Cu-Zn diffused alloy layer with a Zn content of not less than 1 wt % is formed on at least a portion of the surface of Cu-based substrate for a fin. For the formation of such a Cu-Zn diffused alloy layer, Zn is allowed to diffuse thermally after covered the surface of Cu-based substrate with Zn or Zn alloy, and a rolling processing is carried out after the thermal diffusion to finish to a desired size. The Zn concentration of the fin decreases continuously from the outside surface of the Cu-Zn diffused layer to the interface between that layer and the Cu-based fin substrate.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1989Date of Patent: January 9, 1990Assignee: The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shoji Shiga, Akira Matsuda, Hideo Suda, Nobuyuki Shibata

Patent number: 4830102Abstract: A heat exchanger having a plurality of parallel pipes arranged in lines and strips of fin plates fixed to the pipes perpendicularly to the lengths thereof. Turbulence-forming structures are cut out of the fin plates and are bent up at 90.degree. with respect to the planes of the plates, such structures functioning as fin plate spacers and as baffles to direct a fluid medium of inferior heat transfer coefficient which flows in a direction parallel to the planes of the finned plates and perpendicularly to the pipes. The pipes are adapted to conduct a fluid medium of superior heat transfer coefficient. The turbulence-forming structures are disposed in lines on each side of the lines of pipes and in rows which are substantially tangential to the opposite sides of the pipes. The heat exchanger may have a plurality of lines of pipes spaced equally transversely from each other and transvetsely of the direction of flow of the fluid medium of inferior heat transfer coefficient.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1987Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Assignee: Kulkereskedelmi Transelektro Magyar Villamossagi VallalatInventors: Arpad Bakay, Janos Boda, Laszlo Forgo, Istvan Papp, Gyula Kovacs, Karoly Laszlo

Patent number: 4805077Abstract: A light source is positioned within a substantially cylindrical, optically transparent enclosure having a load supporting base. The exterior surface of the enclosure includes a light converging lens having a plurality of jagged edges subject to contamination by dirt and moisture. An optically transmissive, substantially cylindrical secondary cover having a smooth exterior surface is coaxially fitted over the first enclosure to protect the jagged elements of the enclosure lens from contamination by dirt or moisture. An hermetic seal is formed between the lower, outer surface of the lens and the lower, inner surface of the secondary cover to prevent introduction of either dirt or moisture into the chamber formed between the exterior of the lens and the interior of the secondary cover.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1987Date of Patent: February 14, 1989Assignee: Tomar Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Thomas R. Sikora

Patent number: 4798187Abstract: A low profile fuel injection rail assembly for supplying fuel to a plurality of electromagnetic fuel injectors on an internal combustion engine. The fuel rail assembly is characterized by a plurality of fuel sump chambers defined by linearly spaced apart nodular rail sections which are connected in series by a plurality of tubular rail sections having cross sectional openings of reduced size. A recessed socket which embraces an end of a fuel injector and has an aperture for supplying fuel thereto is formed in each sump chamber.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1986Date of Patent: January 17, 1989Assignee: Sharon Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Sharon J. Hudson, Jr.

Patent number: 4763725Abstract: A counter flow heat exchanger comprising a plurality of tubes disposed in a bundle array or tube within tube configuration to enhance heat transfer between high and low pressure tubes in the array or tube in tube configuration. Also disclosed are a method of increasing the heat transfer capacity of a tube bundle heat exchanger and a liquid helium temperature refrigerator or a reliquefier utilizing the heat exchanger.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1987Date of Patent: August 16, 1988Inventors: Ralph C. Longsworth, William A. Steyert

Patent number: 4742869Abstract: A heat and mass transfer device for transmitting heat between a fluid flowing within a pipe and a solution flowing on the outside of the pipe. The device comprises at least one vertically upright tubular pipe and a U-shaped folded metal fin strip twisted helically around the periphery of the pipe. The spacing of the fins on the pipe is such that a pulsating flow of the solution flowing on the outside of the pipe is achieved.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1986Date of Patent: May 10, 1988Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazushige Nakao, Masaki Ikeuchi, Tsuneo Yumikura, Eiichi Ozaki
