    Abstract: A new adhesive coating composition, particularly for use on airbag fabrics, which is composed of a silicone polymer and an appreciable level of a copolymer of ethylene and a polar monomer, is provided. This coating provides excellent adhesive properties to the coated fabric and provides a synergistic effect such that lower gas permeability upon inflation may be obtained with this coating than might be achieved with the silicone polymer alone. Additionally, such a coating allows maximization of the adhesion characteristics on one-piece woven airbag fabric such that blistering upon high-pressure inflation can be reduced, while retaining a high degree of inflation gas retention. Fabric treated with this material in the manner described herein permits reduction in the cost of the coating itself (by reducing the use of expensive silicone polymers). Airbag fabrics and cushions, as well as methods of making and using such a novel airbag coating material are also encompassed within this invention.

    Abstract: An advanced floor mat is disclosed. In an embodiment of the present invention, the floor mat includes a cleanable portion. The floor mat may also include a water dissipation component, a water absorbing component, a cushioning component, customized graphics, a transparent cleanable portion, a tacky surface on the cleanable portion, an antibacterial composition, an antifungal composition, and a fragrance. The cleanable portion may be erodible and may include a plurality of cleanable reusable layers. If a tacky surface is included in the floor mat, an anti-slip feature may be associated with the tacky surface to help prevent slipping on a possibly wet tacky surface. The tacky surface may comprise a material with a dual chemistry such that the tacky surface is tacky both when dry and when wet. Additionally, a sensor system may be included in the floor mat to assist a user in identifying when the floor mat may require cleaning.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a glass mat thermoplastic comprising a glass mat impregnated with an engineering thermoplastic polyurethane (ETPU) having a Tg of at least 50° C. The glass mat thermoplastic can be prepared, for example, by a) contacting a continuous glass mat with ETPU film or sheet, or between ETPU films or sheets, with sufficient pressure and heat to form a multilayered structure which contains a wetted out glass mat layer sandwiched between an ETPU layer and a glass mat layer, b) thermoforming or compression molding the multilayered structure with sufficient heat to substantially completely wet out the glass mat with the ETPU; and c) cooling the substantially wetted out thermoformed glass mat to a temperature below the Tg of the ETPU. The efficiency with which the depolymerizable and repolymerizable ETPU can be impregnated into the glass mat matrix results in a GMT with excellent physical properties.
